I'd also like Shannon's POV back at Bolthole, each time one of her new wrinkles were tested. Especially the Triple Ripple.

"Well spit it out! How did the Manties like my new surprise?"

"Wait'll they get a load of my next offering!"

"I can do this all day Sonja."

An aside:
RFC didn't have to tell us where Bolthole actually was. Well, I guess you'll all agree to letting him off the hook for that.

But.

He damn well could have placed us there in a chapter or so. Not even a few passages? Come on RFC, no one would have smuggled out any data.

And no. My fingers aren't crossed.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

There is a scene or two of Shannon while she was at Bolthole.

What?! Huh?! What you talkin' 'bout Willis? err SWM.

How could I have missed that? I read all of the mainline stories. Is it in one of the forked novels I haven't yet read? Or was that a passage I missed because of everything going on around me at the time? Damn!

Anyone know off the top of their head what book offers a passage of Shannon at Bolthole?

And... thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure that Eloise's return to Haven in the wake of ART could form the basis for an entire novel of its own, given all the political horsetrading that must have been going on behind the scenes.

What political horse trading IIRC the Havenite senate approved the treaties with-to say the least-overwhelming approval. IIRC it passed 190-11.

Good cite, Vince.

And speaking of Shannon, I have a dream (which may raise our dear Ms. RnH hackles) of Admiral Foraker turning the Bolthole show over to Hemphill and her Chief of Staff and heading out with a Battle Fleet to try some of her 'new toys' out personally on the Sollies and MAlignment.

Remember, Shannon at heart is a tac-witch and commander and it was with real regret that she turned her ships over to Theisman/Giscard/Tourville while she had to stay back away from the action (one of those WoH chapters, IIRC).

I am reminded of a couple of lines from an on-line cartoon (I'll leave that as a mystery for all y'all), where one of the characters is screaming for her relief to arrive, saying "Got to go help! Got to go Help!". The relief arrives and the next panel she is off to assist, but now yelling "Get to go Play!" Get to go Play!"

Be kinda nice if Shannon got to go play.

IMHO as always. YMMV.

Seconds on the cite. And thanks. I must have had my head stuck up my arse, during all four? Now I have to reread - Okay!

Nice thought Hutch. We'll count it as a heckuva POV. I have longed for Shannon to return as tac-witch too, and stroking her keyboard - "I'm back!" We can call it "Tour of Duty 2."

And who better to ride herd on the new toys?!

But the peace treaty was sold while Pritchart was out of town. And it couldn't have been too hard, since only 11 Havenite senators voted against it, out of at least 200. The gist of the treaty was negotiated while Honor was at Haven; they basically just dropped the reparations section and added the alliance(s) against the Malign and the League.

XO, what's the budget for the ONI?
Vice Admiral: I don't recall exactly, sir. Several billion quatloos.
Admiral: ... What do you suppose they did with all that money?

Indeed Bill.

But as I remember it, that was also where the horse trading began. I remember Honor herself putting her empathic finger on it. I can't remember the wholeass' name, but Honor sensed that he wanted something specific from Pritchart and her administration. IIRC, Honor called him on it and adjourned the entire meeting to give Pritchart, who was surprised that Honor had banged the political nail so squarely on its head, time to appease the idiot. As I recall, that specific delay was what prevented the culmination of the entire affair then, because Honor was recalled.

"Horse trading am I," was pretty much acknowledged by Pritchart.

I imagine that the 11 holdouts didn't get what they want. I also imagine that 'those-it-may-concern' were authorized to continue the horse trading in Pritchart's absence per Pritchart's request per Pritchart's instructions.

And remember, Pritchart's political opponents wanted the war to end just as much as anyone else. Even they knew that Haven's survival depended on it. Honor sensed that. They were just political opportunists.

I also imagine that the overall fear of the four meter tall Boogeymander did lots to sway the man in the street and his frightened little kids.
