In my statement I used "bad" to describe how good the Manties are and "good" to describe how good their tech is, which in this case both mean good.

I liked that part in the novel too. I loved that the Manties just casually flaunt this information that they shouldn't have (like the ships' names when they've never been told them).
Yeah, English is a toughie. It has rules that never apply to all situations and then exceptions to rules that sometimes don't even apply to the exceptions...Gotta love it.
