Maybe this is his way of trying to show he still has control, and to allow the generals to believe they have a bit more power, while giving the populace something other then him to focus their anger on?

A Short Victorious War. Or a pretend version of it.

We all know how THAT can go badly.

..... And yet, with all that has happened elsewhere this week, seems like a lot of media attention has shifted away from Korea.

That shift might be for the best.

Agreed. If Nth Korea sees that everyone else just doesnt really care anymore, their own insignificance might sink in and they might come to their senses.

Nice if it happens. Wouldn't bank on it, though. I think the NK leadership is more than a little desperate for major concessions, just so they can stay in power j-u-s-t a little longer.

I am more than a little bit curious at this point if the NK leadership will overstep themselves and do something truly stupid like sending a missile towards SK or JP either of which will be a act of war and with russia and china watching them just as carefully as we are may result in NK having some internal issue resulting from a sudden loss of leadership due to "unforseen car accidents" as it were.
