So something is keeping the genetic portion that predisposes towards homosexual, bisexual behaivour etc around.

One obvious survival advantage to having gay relationships is that, when resources are scarce, not having kids to compete with your siblings' kids gives your shared genes an advantage over another tribe that ends up starving themselves out...

Im going to go out on a limb and guess no, as its a topic that not many would study, or get funding for, and its only in the last hundred or so years that people have actually admitted it exists.

On a side note related back to the OP, NZ has just had our gay marriage bill pass its second reading, so it looks like it may be legal for gay couples to wed by the end of the year or so.

How much did the Queen's recent actions affect the voting in your Parliament?

While I was channel surfing last week, I heard something about the Queen signing a statement of support for equal rights for gay people throughout the Empire. Did I misunderstand what she was talking about?

No idea. but it probably didn't matter in regards this bill. the current support was 77 votes for, 44 against, so it looks like well passing as it has been well supported since the start.

She is pretty much obliged to sign whatever law parliament puts in front of her, but does have some input into the speech and was apparently quite supportive of equal rights for all adults - eldest daughter to succeed as well.

I think we might be talking about the two different bills here..... I was talking about how the queen probably didnt have any effect on the passing (so far) of the NZ gay marriage bill.
