I looking for recommendations for a book series which covers the history of a society (i.e. humans or aliens) on another planet or in another universe. Something akin to the Dune or Ender series, preferably a Hugo Award winner.
Any recommendations would be appreciated! |

...I'll probably get hammered for this, but the Dahak Trilogy has that happen in the third book.
Okay, moving on. The Belisarius Series by (Erik Flint and David Drake) has a time-war in the Roman era which leads to massive changes. The books (in order) are:- An Oblique Approach In the Heart of Darkness Destiny's Shield Fortune's Stroke The Tide of Victory The Dance of Time The Destroyermen (by Taylor Anderson) has a WWII Destroyer shifted to an alternate world where they team up with the natives, seeking to boost their tech level so that they can keep their own ship working. The books in the series are:- Into The Storm Crusade Maelstrom Distant Thunders Rising Tides Firestorm Iron Gray Sea Storm Surge Deadly Shores Straits of Hell Blood in the Water Devil's Due River of Bones Pass of Fire Winds of Wrath ~~~~~~
I can't write anywhere near as well as Weber But I try nonetheless, And even do my own artwork. (Now on Twitter)and mentioned by RFC! ACNH Dreams at DA-6594-0940-7995 |

I'll second what Michael said.
If you like either alternative history or simply our own planet and species but different, you can try a few other authors. Steve (SM) Stirling - The Emberverse, An Isle in the Sea of Time. Harry Turtledove - several different series, some SF, some fantasy. Jim Butcher - The Dresden Files (intelligent fantasy and funny) John Birmingham. Several different series. As he says "lots of big f***ing explosions". Eric Flint's 1632. If you like the classics there are lots of Asimov and Heinlein series, plus the Lensman series by EE Smith. John Ringo's Posleen and other series Larry Niven's Ringworld series Ryk Spoor is a new author with several promising series. David Drake Hammners Slammers and Belisarious |

Most of those series I would recommend are already listed, but there is also Michael Cobley’s "Humanity’s Fire" trilogy, or Vernor Vinge’s Hugo Winner “A Deepness in the Sky”. |

The Belisarius series by David Drake and Eric Flint is about two far future groups sending AIs into the past to wage war for control of the Earth. The space Nazis take over India with the intention of super charging the caste system and turning all humans into slaves. The good guy space whales send their AI to Roman general Belisarius, who manages to get Rome and her allies into a world war that includes technology hundreds of years early. Fantastic series.
