As an American conservative, you watch communism fail, and then assume that socialism is the same.
But miss the basic reason for that failure.
When you take ownership/control away from the people corruption runs rife.
Marx saw the government taking control as the second step. That the government would then remove itself from the equation. He forgot to take human corruptability into account.
But, as a conservative, you fail to see the same lack of ownership/control happening in a capitalist country like your own. (And mine)
Ownership/control goes away, corruption ensues.

True conservatives actually understand that left unfettered from honest government regulation, capitalism will inevitably degenerate into an oligarchy in which an extremely small group of people control all of the wealth. Crony capitalism in which there is an unholy alliance between the wealthiest and corrupt politicians accellerates this process by imposing overly complex regulations and mandates that put smaller businesses at a disadvantage.
