Trump believes if we are at WAR; he can’t lose the 2020 election
How Trump’s arch-hawk lured Britain into a dangerous trap to punish Iran
With the seizure of a supertanker off Gibraltar, distracted UK government was set up by John Bolton as collateral damage
John Bolton, White House national security adviser and notorious Iraq-era hawk, is a man on a mission. Given broad latitude over policy by Donald Trump, he is widely held to be driving the US confrontation with Iran. And in his passionate bid to tame Tehran, Bolton cares little who gets hurt – even if collateral damage includes a close ally such as Britain.
So when Bolton heard British Royal Marines had seized an Iranian oil tanker off Gibraltar on America’s Independence Day, his joy was unconfined. “Excellent news: UK has detained the supertanker Grace I laden with Iranian oil bound for Syria in violation of EU sanctions,” he exulted on Twitter.

Bolton’s delighted reaction suggested the seizure was a surprise. But accumulating evidence suggests the opposite is true, and that Bolton’s national security team was directly involved in manufacturing the Gibraltar incident. The suspicion is that Conservative politicians, distracted by picking a new prime minister, jockeying for power, and preoccupied with Brexit, stumbled into an American trap.

This is as old as democracy. When either Athens or Sparta were facing an election they concocted a border skirmish with each other.

Anyone who is actually familiar with the Iran nuclear deal understands that while it theoreticlly delays aquisition of nuclear weapons, it legitimized Iran becoming a nuclear weapon state in the not to distant future.

The idea that Bolton is the mastermind to this nefarious plan isinteresting in context of President Trump literally exhiling Bolton to Mongolia during his meeting with Kim at the DMZ.

It has to be said that this did come very much out of the blue, especially given the UK/FR/DE desire to keep Tehrhan in the nuclear fuel refinement agreement.

As far as I'm aware no-one in the UK Gov really explained where this came from, who authorised it etc.

The only context for this suprise event is that it occured during the final stages of the Tory PM election campaign where the various candidates were all trying to prove how hard they were.

So it could easily be that Boulton tipped one of them the wink, promising all sorts of support and good will.

Or maybe they just fancied striking heroic poses on the deck of the super tanker to the plaudits of the Troy press...

I feel as if Im falling tinot tin-hat terratory now... sigh

Bolton had been literally exiled to Outer Mongolia when the decision to seize the tanker was made.

Did the relevant British officials travel to Mongrolia for some type of secret meeting for some secret meeting?

Let us be blunt. The Iran nuclear deal was a sell out. Oboma and his Eurotrash allies negotiated a treaty that effectively acquiesced to Iran's assertion that they have a right to acquire nuclear weapons. The Iran agreement merely requires a delay of a few years before there are no limits on Uranium enrichment. Iran agreed to pay off the Eurotrash for their agreement to lift the sanctions by buying their products and hiring European firms to assist with oil and gas development. The Eurotrash will also sell Iran equipment to support its nuclear weaponsprogram just like you did with Pakistan, Iraq and Libya.

I got really bad news for you. Trump doesn't give a shit about Middle East oil. The US is now energy independant. NO US BLOOD FOR EUROPEAN OIL! If Iran does get nuclear weapons, the Europeans are going to be totally on their own. The US will not go to war to safeguard the energy supplies of Europe or Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The US will not go to war to disarm Iran. The US will not incur the risk of fighting a nuclear war with Iran by extending Nuclear Umbrella to protect other countries. This means that it will be open season on Saudi Arabia, the other Gulf states, Turkey and Europe. The US will also withdraw from NATO, leaving you to the tender mercies of Putin's Russia.

Now popping popcorn.

No, you're not. Not really. You're still importing millions of barrels per day of crude oil. Your refineries are still built to process the heavier crude oil delivered from Saudi-Arabia and would have difficulties processing your domestic production; While you are now at net zero imports, that's not the whole story. If you were to actually stop imports, your effective fuel prices would go through the roof; this has second-order effects on your entire economy.

So, bottom line: For the foreseeable future, you are still bound to the middle east. You can bluster all you want about "NO US BLOOD FOR EUROPEAN OIL!", but it's actually about your fuel prices.

I got really bad news for you. Trump doesn't give a shit about Middle East oil.

Yes, because he's a senile idiot who couldn't understand something as complex as the US energy economy for the life of him.

The main point is, that US domestic production allowed for US to stabilize oil prices on US-favorable level. Which is rather good for industry, which have cheap energy and better protection against oil prices fluctuation.

No doubt. Still, at this point, completely withdrawing from the middle eastern oil supply and going for complete autarchy is not something the US is able to do in realistic terms, not without making life more expensive for the average citizen.
