I don't think I've actually seen anything similar on the board, so what does everyone do as a hobby, besides reading SF/Fantasy?

Mine is making model kits, ships, planes and armour:

Dragon 1/35 Sherman Mk II, Battle of El Alamein, 1941.

Tamiya 1/35 Kubelwagen, 501st Heavy Tank Battalion, Tunisa, 1943.

ICM 1/72 Polikarpov I-153 "Chaika", Chinese Air Force, 1941.

Airfix 1/72 Bristol Blenheim Mk I as flown by Sqd Ldr Arthur Scarfe VC(posthumous), Malaya, 1941.

Trumpeter 1/700 HMS Barham, Battle of Cape Matapan, March 1941.

The images in the post above mean that replying will be difficult since (on my browser, at least) it covers the Post Reply option. Therefore I'll keep this short so people can quote and delete easily.
As my current sig shows, I do some writing and art (mainly cut-and-paste but branching out into basic 3D graphics).

I can't write anywhere near as well as Weber
But I try nonetheless, And even do my own artwork.

That's the images edited down to make things easier.

How the forum handles images is one of my minor gripes.

Well, besides reading.....

I collect movies and books. I enjoy playing some computer games, tinkering on my cars.

At various times, depending on my mood, finances, and/or time I have done and do:

Reading
Collecting music and movies
Painting
Drawing
Of course, most of you already know about my 3D modeling (see sig)
Building and/or upgrading computers
PC gaming (currently working my way through Pillars of Eternity and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt)
Building and flying model and high-power rockets.

Cool models indeed. As I kid I had all the various airplane plastic assembly kits in the same scale hanging from my shared bedroom ceiling by threads. Mostly WW2 stuff that was available.

The most fun we had but I do not think it was an actual hobby was blowing up those green plastic army men with various sized fire crackers, (including big ones) in the backyard sandbox.

Nowadays my hobbies include sitting absolutely still for long periods of time and when the going gets tough, the tough taking a long nap. Not a hobby, but also somewhat politically active. HB

I read - a lot, at a page a minute it takes quite a few books to keep me happy. I also potter in the garden weeding and/or planting/lawn-mowing etc in half-hour segments (back damage means I have to stop rather often) and I build model army vehicles and artillery for pleasure when I don't have an article about them commissioned. Surfing the net takes up my time too ;).
Cheers
John

Thanks! The fun part for me is doing the research, then painting. I've accrued more than a few books for my library whilst gathering info for a project!
