Seeing a treecat's ears go flat on you has to be an unsettling proposition.
If flattened while you're having a charged conversation with Honor, it has to be downright frightening. If Honor has a nervous tick at the corner of her mouth as well, then check your watch. Get the hell outta there! ****** * Has anyone likened the nervous tick at the corner of Honor's mouth to that of a rabid dog? No? None of you make that connection? Well Houseman sure as hell does! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Try as I may, I cannot find other textev referencing that data. How did the Star Empire benefit from it? Was it classified military data? My first thought was the location of Bolthole. But obviously it wasn't. So what else could it have been, and why didn't storyline reference it again? And what happened to Mládek? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Short story, "Let's Go to Prague." He had some classified data, but as it said, Honor had just returned from Hades about the time he arrived in Manticore space with the entire contents of the Hades main computer. No mention of him ever again. ________________

Let's Go to Prague is by John Pingo. Worlds of Honor 4 with title "In the Service of the Sword" on the front cover. Also included is "A Ship Named Francis" which has to be about the funniest story in the Honorverse. A real hoot...

Since treecats began to sign, some interesting names have come from the treeecats regarding humans. "Dreams of Peace" "Soul of Steel."
I wonder if the description of themselves would change now that they can better relate. Is "People" close enough to what treecats wanted to convey? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Recent talk has led me to see Torch in a totally different light. I now see Torch as I do Erewhon. A distinct entity all unto itself. Erewhon, stalwarts of techology. Torch, stalwarts of espionage, surveillance, counter-surveillance, insurgence, and constructive terrorism. Torch could make a real name and garner respect for themselves. You know, they could become the super spooks of the Honorverse. MI6, CIA.

My fiancee has a cat. As does my niece. Ridiculously expensive cat my niece has. They all have one thing in common. Hairballs. Seems their little mouths are always full of hair - what, with the constant grooming and preening of themselves. Talk about a vain species. ![]() If a dog is man's best friend. Then cats must be a woman's me-Owwww! (massages rising bump on head.) Because of the movie "Trading Places" with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy, I can't but help seeing treecats eating celery like Winthorpe ate that Christmas ham he lifted - with a bit of hair as seasoning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJUoKcPb5JU http://www.catsofaustralia.com/hairballs-cats.htm . This concern has been meandering in my mind, seeking the entropic path of least resistance.
When Pavel Young was sentenced, Dimitri had a heart attack. I am not certain why Dimitri had a heart attack, since Pavel was convicted on charges that did not carry the death penalty. OK, so he was dishonorably discharged, but why was that a reason to have a heart attack? It seems relief that Pavel wouldn't get the guillotine was a better reaction. Another concern was why Dmitri supported Pavel's wish to join the navy in the first place, if he was so concerned about his well being. He had to know the level of incompetence in his son. And that that level of incompetence could, would, did get him killed! And why on Earth, er Manticore, would Young want to join the navy? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Well, remember that his health was not good to start with. Then think about the humiliation of having his son drummed out of the navy for cowardice. The whole scene reeks of high level stress. Not good for a fragile heart, eh? As for Young joining the navy, could it be that it was popa's idea in the first place? Gotta keep up the family tradition, after all... What puzzles me is how Young and Santino made it through the Crusher...maybe some greased palms somewhere?
