Cauldron of Ghosts
The information he and Victor had brought back from Mesa had not only ended the galaxy’s longest and most savagely fought war, and turned two bitter enemies into allies. Uneasy and hesitant allies, perhaps, but allies nonetheless.

I haven't read everything, and I am nowhere near completion of CoG. I sure hope Victor and Anton both received medals. They are both heroes of a different fashion.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Cauldron of Ghosts
Something in Victor’s expression made it clear that he understood that also. But all he said was: “True enough. I may be a problem child for the diplomatically-inclined, but Anton gives them nightmares.”

Hillarious.

You know, I've reread this thread twice in it's history, and I don't think this has every been posted...and it's pretty darn critical to the next 8-9 books.....

"I . . . haven't been much of an exec to you, have I, Ma'am?" he asked quietly.

******

"No, Mr. McKeon," she said. "You haven't." She watched him flinch, saw his shoulders tighten, and wanted to reach out to him. But she didn't. She simply sat there, waiting.

And after some of the best dialogue in the Honorverse....

"Good," Honor repeated more softly. She hesitated for just a moment, and then extended her hand across the table. "In that case, Commander McKeon, welcome aboard. It's good to see you back."

"Thank you." He took her hand and clasped it firmly. "It's good to be back . . . Skipper."

I know it's from OBS, not the Honor of the Queen, but if there is one scene/storyline I'd love to see transplanted to the Movie, it would be that one.

OK, just scanning though OBS and found another gem I don't think has been put in here yet.

"Maybe not, but she gave me my orders, and one thing I can tell you about Commander Harrington, Hayne—when she gives an order, she expects it to be obeyed. Period."

"Sounds like a real hardass to me," Duvalier grumbled.

"Oh, she is," Venizelos said with a smile. "In fact, I'm just starting to realize how hard a hardass she is. And you know something, Hayne? I like it."

Damn, I miss Andreas Venizelos--he'd be a Rear Admiral (at least) by now if he'd lived.....

Nice digs Hutch. You've managed to pull another couple of rabbits out of the old archive hat. It would be nice to have that scene transplanted, but it'd have to be a world-class actor, to pull off the inner turmoil.

I miss Andy too. I said it once, and I'll say it again. For me, OBS is in a class by itself.

Yana Tretiakovna talking to Anton. I am beginning to really like her.

Yup. Still miffed, that in CoG, many nameless SL marine pukes gets cover time and Yana does not in the exact same battle. Yet she gets injured. Gets an off-hand one line mention about how she lead a brilliant defense and nothing else. Grrr.

Ruth had her own opinion—well-formed; cured; tempered; hardened; sharp on all edges and corners—as to which of the two human genders was actually prone to flightiness, inconstancy and indecision.

CoG.

As a person with a Y chromosome, I don't really agree to this opinion. Maybe. Possibly. Prehaps. ;)

Honor is Third Stellar, which seems to be some offshoot of Protestantism that pretty much lacks any central authority. Elizabeth is Second Reformation Catholic, which is an evolved form of the Roman Catholic Church as we know it today.[/quote]

Third Stellar sound somewhat like my own religious following, especially with this quote from in At All Costs by Archbishop Telmachi:
each individual member of each congregation—is personally responsible for his or her relationship with God. I'm on quite good terms with several of their clergy, and one of them compared their General Convocation to an exercise in herding treecats."

She might be third stellar technically... but when was the last time she attended their church?

I suspect she might convert to the Greyson religion...
