They remind me of a teenage boy (me) playing with a very old Multilith 1250 printing press in the graphics dept., and the entire meticulous process. Oh the memories!

Khan was quoting Ahab.

My wounded tablet The Phoenix was quoting Kahn, concerning how it felt towards certain disHonorable Delegates, regarding motion AD-1002-07-02-22.

I am this far...from throwing my tablet into the frickin' fireplace.

Sometimes I think that politics is simply a playground for polished idiots.

Aiding and abetting???

How 'bout shoving motion AD-1002-07-02-22 up the collective impaneled asses of the idiots aiding and abetting the f#####g Mandarins! SOB!

cthia, I know this is the Honorverse quote thread, but that rant just demands this one-liner from one of the best commentators of all time...

Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.

Thanks for this. I missed it before work. Can't get anymore appropo than this.

I used a Wrath of Khan quote in an earlier post for emphasis, seemed appropriate...gravy. So Mark Twain was needed as well. Great minds are immortal.

Trying to pull out the key one-liner ...
Yes, Sir, a court of law, where your persistent attempts to compel the Queen's Navy to abandon its responsibilities will, no doubt, be seen as proof of collusion in treason and murder.

Alistair's redemption.

AKA the moment when Alistair McKeon went from "wake up and smell the awesome of your captain, jackass" to "OH HELLO AWESOME CHARACTER WHOM I LOVE AND ADORE".

I didn't see Alistair as being about adoring his skipper, it's not a cult of personality for me at least. Maybe the series is, from an outside perspective. But I do see the characters inside focusing on the value of duty. maybe that's just my curmudgeonly view. I don't see myself posting on the Cupid thread anytime soon, although I do read it with amusement.

I think you need to re-read what I wrote - that was the moment when I started to adore him.

But then, as you just admitted, you're a curmudgeon. :P
