I think I'd have liked your father, that is an awesome line

Thank you. Yes you would have liked my father; everyone did, both my mother and father. My sister's friends liked my father too much and often developed a crush, much to the dismay of my five sisters. I suppose my father was a handsome man, but his personality was the catcher...bubbly, happy. I suppose when one is married to the sweetest most beautiful woman in the world one would have a tendency to be easygoing.
His sons on the other hand had to contend with their friends constant goggling after their mother. If you've ever been an eleven-year old and have witnessed the lost puppy dog look in all of your friends eyes about your mom, then you feel what I mean.
Every time I'd scold my friends they'd say something like 'Why are you so angry at us? It's not our fault your mom is so beautiful.' Even though an eleven-year old wanted it to be their fault, it wasn't. Since then every time I hear the phrase 'Don't hate me because I'm beautiful' reminds me of my mom.
My father had many profound sayings. He'd often sit you down and let you sulk in the silence before he'd speak where often something profound would emerge. It is how he taught us.
Yow, a forumite, made me feel proud and asked to use an earlier saying of my father's as his signature...
Son, do not cater to the common belief that a man has to earn your respect. That is not true. You should give every man respect right from the start. What a man has to earn is your continued respect.
Son, you are not God so I don't expect you to walk on water, but do you think you can learn to stand on land?
one of the very first things he taught his boys...
I only have two rules. One, never hit my wife or my wife's daughters. Two, transgressions of this rule will be met with severe punishment. Three, if you find yourself at rule number three, you've gone too far. See rule number two.
I don't care if you boys kill each other. Just do it outside! But when your mother finds out about it, the survivor of the battle won't survive the war. Guess who'll be leading the charge.
One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch. But it will always get the worm executed.
He had many more. Thus was my father. Memories are our key to immortality.
I think I'll honor my father and use one as
my forum signature.
