"Well," Terekhov said after a moment, blue eyes still on the visual display, "I suppose we should see if whoever's still alive in their chain of command is more willing to listen to reason."

Imagined conversation:
Admiral [noting yet another Manty tech surprise]:
XO, what's the budget for the ONI?
Vice Admiral: I don't recall exactly, sir. Several billion quatloos.
Admiral: ... What do you suppose they did with all that money?

Damn, how did I fail to make that great minds connection.

Brilliant Bill!

Simply brill!

"it's been three days now, Tester, and Astrogation is still trying to figure out where we are. If you could maybe see the way clear, Tester, to giving them a hint how to find our way back to Grayson before the air runs out or the environmental systems fail or one of the shuddering fusion reactors explodes, spreading our constituent atoms among the stars..."

Another vividly descriptive prayer from " A Ship called Francis' in "The Service of the Sword"
Did anyone know that a fusion reactor could shudder?

IMHO The Service of the Sword is the best anthology to date. And not just because it's Grayson-focused! Other anthologies may have two or three stories worth reading, but in this one every single story is incredible. And the title story is just... gah. I don't have words for how much I love "The Service of the Sword" as a work of fiction.

Definitely revisit "The Service of the Sword" not only does it have passages like this one from the Ship called
Francis.

"We don't want to die,Tester, drifting through the empty blackness of the Heavens, our bodies shriveled by vacuum, fighting like rabid dogs, Tester, over the compartments that still have air in them"

It also has the story Fanatic which has the outraged statement from Ginny Usher.

""Victor Cachat is the sweetest kid in the world! And you-" She was pratically spitting like a cat." You dirty rotten ba****ds you were mean to him"

Find out who was mean to Haven's sweetest kid - Victor Cachat in the story Fanatic.

It has the story "Lets Go To Prague" which is about two Manticoran spies who decide to go for a vacation in Havenite space.
"What in the living hells was going through what might with leniency, be referred to as your mind!"
Admiral Givens expresses her feelings about this idea.

With One Stone shows Honor and Rafe Cardonnes in action and also shows Sonja Hemphill developing an idea of Honor's into faster than light communication.

Promised land introduces Judith who is Ruth Wintons mother.

The story The Service of the Sword is about Abigail Hearns middy cruise and how she earned the "Conspicuous Gallantry Medal"

I have two favorites....

The First is a double shot from our favorite PO 2/C, Alen Coker of the Solarian Navy's Battle Fleet as he sees 10th Fleet emerging from hyper in Shadow of Freedom.

"Oh, shit." "We are so screwed."

The second are thoughts of one Commodore Aivars Terekhov in Mission of Honor, as Admiral Crandall is leading her ships into the Spindle system.

"You just keep right on coming, Admiral Crandall, Terekhov thought coldly. You don't even begin to realize just how much you've got us exactly where we want you . . . but you're about to find out."

I have procured The Service of The Sword and the other anthologies as well!

I haven't read the Anthologies yet but I shall rectify that little oversight post-haste!

Thanks everyone for pointing me to the certain treasures that I have missed.

A regrettable overstatement of a one-liner by one bit-of-an-outclassed Solarian Admiral.

"Probably took her that long to get back out of the head after she changed her underwear, Sir," Rear Admiral Karlotte Thimár, Byng's chief of staff, replied with a nasty chuckle..."

-regarding Michelle Henke Storm From The Shadows.
