...while she's not my first choice, literally the only complaint I have about this actress is that she's too pretty for "ugly-duckling Honor". But since the same can be said of Moon Bloodgood, Kristin Kreuk, and Olivia Munn, all of whom are very high on my list... wow. I had never heard of this actress before but yes please.

I'd also like to throw in Julia Nickson (Catherine Sakai on Babylon 5), though she might be (well, probably is) too old for Honor. But if she is, she could play a lovely Allison Harrington or Estelle Matsuko.

roseandheather,
She certainly is beautiful. But it still could work since the movie will begin with 'The Honor Of The Queen.'
When does Honors' attractiveness begin to show?

When I first read the book I always thought Lucy Lawless of Xena fame. Too old now I am sure. But the height, the physical build (amazon-matching Sphinx' high gravity physique) and her fighting ability. And Lucy always had understated attractiveness. A buffet of sexiness, but understated attractiveness.

I agree with Roseandheather and Uroboros. Honor needs to look not white.

There are alot of good Korean actresses too.

I really hope they don't do they low lighting / dark set. It makes it difficult to to see the details, like the actors expressions to the action or main character, especially when it comes out on DVD an viewing it. Also, I hope they don't drown there speaking and the actors enunciate and not mumble.

Oh yes, for certain, non-white or there will be a riot, and I will be the instigator!
I didn't mean Lucy Lawless in the literally, I meant her demeanor and physical attributes...Honor reminded me of her in all ways...with the exception of genetic makeup.

I think that, if we were casting race-blind - which we can't, for obvious reasons - Lucy Lawless is everything I ever imagined Honor to be. Brave, bold, commanding, a brilliant fighter - yes, I could see how she would be a model for Honor.

I know this hasn't anything to do with honor, but if anyone has any connections please try and get me an audition please. I think I'd make an excellent Kolokotsov or Byng or Rajampet. After all all one would have to do is make bad decisions.

They are all one brick short of a fireplace.
No smoke coming out of the chimney.
No fire in the hearth.
And no wood to make none!

It is not hard to down play an actresses attributes. I have always thought that Honor's lack of attractiveness was more about her own perception from a long awkward faze and an assault that left her traumatized.

That's really an excellent point. I doubt Honor would be a classical beauty, because if she was she really would have no reason to doubt her looks - but I definitely get the impression that she's still holding on to gangly, adolescent Ms. Midshipwoman Harrington. And you're right about how easy it is to downplay someone's looks - just look at Gwendoline Christie!
