I first ran across these snippets six years ago? It was a LONG time ago at any rate. The website was "Collected Dribblets of Baen" A now inactive site that specialized in snippets from new or unreleased Baen books.
They had been the leading entry on their homepage. Eventually they went into their archives, forever lost to all. I recently re read Empire of Man and was wishing that I could get a hold of these chapters again. Basically John had worked them up as the first 5 chapters and sent them to David to get his input and approval. Unfortunately there was some sort of mis communications and David never got them. Time passed (a year? Less? More?) and John eventually asked David what he thought of them. Confusion followed with all concerned and even after it was resolved, the end result was that the sequel never happened.
I have found that the Google search engine has evolved quite nicely,,and if you persist in refining your searches with differently worded questions, you can (if you're lucky) get answers. So I gave it a shot and lo and behold, l got a hit!
Unfortunately, at almost 70 years old, I'm sufficiently tech challenged that I don't know how to create a link. What I CAN do is give you the question that I asked Google that got me those snippets. Go to Google and ask the following question "Where can I find snippets of the 5th Empire of Man series by John Ringo" What will come up is "Untitled Empire of Man 5 current chapter Link page"
Hit the link and you will get an archived page from the Dribblets web page with what is basically the first 3 chapters. Chapter One is just a paragraph. But chapters two and three are the real deal. And really really good stuff. I'm really sure that there were 5 chapters that I read so long ago, but there are only the 3 (two) chapters there,on this link
Anyways I wanted to share this with any and all who have wished for MORE! It won't solve that MORE urge, in fact it will strengthen and renew that urge. But it IS new and better than nothing. Enjoy!
