Bob Dylan summed this up half a century ago with "If you ain't got nothin, you've got nothin to lose".
If you have a good job, home and future you are unlikely to stuff it up by being violent. |

Since your point seems to be that strong regulations on gun ownership really do work in reducing the amount of people hurt by guns, I'd say you're closer to understanding our viewpoint.
And yet, you keep missing the obvious: 20 incidents of violent crime over a short period in London is "alarming" and "unprecedented"; in the average american city, it's "last quarter". If british gun ownership laws were as lax as american ones, we'd be seeing a lot more homicides and injuries.
The last time one of you conservatives asked me to find the data for myself, all I found were things thoroughly debunking them. Is that a risk you want to take, TFLY? |

Absolutely! Aside from having abysmally low arrest rates, America made the mistake of instituting a perverse welfare program that had the effect if not the intent of undermining the family structure of the lower class by penalyzing poor women with children for being married. The rules incentivised poor women to have children out of wedlock. Even if you are a poor man, if you have a wife and children or at least the prospect of becoming a husband and father, then you have something to loose that will deter you from committing murder. Most African American men as well as many hispanic men do not have that prospect. All they had is a Darwinian struggle for access to women so as to may be have progeny before they got themselves killed. Homicide rates declined dramatically after Newt Gingrich compelled President Clinton to pass welfare reform. The percentage of homicides committed with guns actually increased slightly during this time, so it definately wasnt the Clinton "assault weapon" ban that decreased the murder rate. |

We Hell, your number 1!
So far this year, London is actually ahead of New York City for number of murders per 100,000 people. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8273147/l ... stabbings/ |

Yep! It is amazing how homicided rates in most US cities plummetted after we eepealed the Clinton ban on "assault weapons." https://www.thetrace.org/2018/04/highes ... ties-list/ Since the US has been making gun laws LESS restrictive in recent decades, why have murder rates been decreasing? |

Wow, point flew about a mile over your head that time... (And homicide rates have been decreasing across the developed world, and yet there is still a huge disparity between the US and other stable developed nations. And we all know what the critical difference is) |

And you continue to overlook the true critical difference. Your using the phrase "developed world" is a HUGE hint but it would be politically incorrect for you to acknowledge the implications. |
