They can't sell it. So I have a question for SWM or any of the historians out there: "When does the lease expire?"

wikipedia says only mention of the end of the lease is the ability of the US to end it, and notes that there has never been an end date attached, so likely never, it will only be deliberately ended.

As a US citizen, I must agree with Daryl. That is the problem with any trial that takes place there. There is no proof of any of the charges being leveled. I still don't understand why it is still in operation. It should have been shut down years ago, if it there was any reason to start it up in the first place.

Problem is politics. Obama started out to close it down but quickly found out that noone wants to risk taking the blame for letting someone go free that might later come back as a 9/11 part 2, which of course some of the prisoners might want to do NOW simply because of how they have been treated.

Intel agencies refuses to allow any evidence that might actually exist to be used, based on the usual, and mostly crap claim of "revealing methods and capabilities", and because they don´t want to admit they were wrong before, they sure don´t want to do it now.

And so on... Noone wants to take any blame, so this breach of law and moral is perpetuated.
Obama wanted to remove the stain, but found that too many, even in his own party would oppose it, so now he´s probably just fervently wishing that the whole thing doesn´t blow up completely until he´s out of office.

So, what happens when some of the people there die?
And then retroactively found not guilty of anything more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
