Surely Nike should be a training ship?

[ok, maybe that's a bit UK English - I think you call "trainers" or "training shoes" "sneakers" over there :) ]

!

Had a friend from Scotland in school and at dinner table he asked a young lady "Mind if I come by and knock-you-up a little latter?" Nearly choked on my food.
By-the-by in American English the phrase knock-you-up means to get you with child. Who was it said the Americans and Limeys, ugh, be polite, Brits are separated by a common language?

Well time for something really funny? A lampoon of Monty Python a staple of Brit Whit.

Honor's mother to Honor on learning Honor was in a family way due to a clerical error.

Reuters, Landing, Manticore.

Admiralty spokespersons remained vague as to what kind of incident caused a recent hole seen in the side of the Royal Yacht. The official statement read:

"We are aware there is a hole and we are looking into it."

These are not jokes. They are humorous incidents. Jokes is what the first post is.

I think most comedians would argue against the first post being a joke.

How many Manties does it take to change a light bulb?

1, but he is someone's butler.

How many Grayson's does it take to change a light bulb?

1, but they have to do it the same way that Honor Harrington does.

How many of the Faithful does it take to change a light bulb?

1, but he needs dispensation from the Church to use the technology.

How many Peeps does it take to change a light bulb?

2 plus 12th Fleet, 1 to hold the ladder, 1 to change the bulb and 12th Fleet to raid the Manties to get the light bulbs.

How many Mesans does it take change a light bulb?

1 Genetic Slave, and the planning committee it took to design him to be the perfect light bulb changer.

How many Sollies does it take to change a light bulb?

12 a Fleet Admiral to order an Admiral to order a Vice Admiral to order a Rear Admiral to order a Commodore to order a Captain to order a Commander to order a Lieutenant Commander to order a Lieutenant (SG) to order a Lieutenant (JG) to order an Ensign to order a Electronics Tech 1st to change it.

How many Sillies does it take to change a light bulb?

What's a light bulb?

I was reading Guadalcanal by Richard B. Frank, when I encountered a real-life example of British versus American English. The image I had of coast watchers was always some emaciated hermit, except when it was Cary Grant. Apparently, the reality could be quite different as one of the coast watchers was quite obese.

Anyway, this coast watcher radioed to the Americans asking to be evacuated as he was, "quite knocked up." Well, a higher ranking officer included himself with the evacuation team and, once he saw the coast watcher, said "By Golly, he is!"

I can see the blurb for the movie now - Giant mutant hot Asian young teen kicks aristocratic butt in shower scene.

In regard to different dialects of English a couple that come to mind are - in Australia Durex is sticky tape so asking to borrow some is a bit funny in England, and an ass is a donkey not an arse.

Another Mind-Pun

Manticorian talk show with the treecat's spokes -Cat on the Treecat Human Breading Program. The host asks, "How do you answer all the critics of your Human Breading Program?"

The supple brown young mind-singer scientist types something into a computer types the command for five second delay. She faces the audience, puts her true hands by her perky ears, spreads her fingers waving back and forth, sticks out her tongue, The computer generated voice now going "Naner-Naner-Naner ..."
