Hi all,
Had the following comment over on Baen's Bar:

The 2014 date was only ever a wildly optimistic estimate date given IMDB for the initial listing - closer to TWO years ago. It may even have just been a swag put on by the IMDB staff, not really based on any info from the production team.
At the time David signed the contract, when he informed fans in a Bar posting that the movie project was "real" now, shortly before there WAS any IMDB listing, David estimated about 5 (five; V; 12345) years to release, if everything went smoothly. Even then, that would have made release more like sometime in 2016.
Folks, with no updates to IMDB in 2 years, and no industry scuttlebutt on casting, shooting, etc., and none but the sketchiest indications of progress from Himself over that time, don't look for release of this film before 2017. It certainly isn't happening in 2014...and it never was.
A typical mid-budget theater release film is roughly a year from draft screenplay/earliest casting/staffing to completion of shooting, and roughly a year from end of shooting to release. If they have funding and a distribution deal. Serenity was about 18 months, but Joss knew basically exactly what he wanted to do once he had a deal lined up, and he kept the major sets in storage and kept the cast on option. Heck, John Carter was something like 8 years in post-production status, wasn't it?
So everyone just take a deep breath, and hold it until 2017, or until there is some actual news. And think of some probing questions to ask the producer at Honorcon.
BTW - The Manticore Company L.L.C. is one of DAVID's business entities. It is how he manages the licencing of Honorverse derivative products. Check the back of your Ad Astra game products from 10 years ago. It doesn't really mean anything (for us) in relation to progress on the (latest) movie project, except David has a contract.
