Trump campaign against diversity urges government employees to turn informer

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump- ... 025-01-22/
Is here anything more despicable then: an “informer”?
Here’s an effort to turn work colleagues against each other!
Shades of Joe McCarthy!!!

Not having a degree in economics, it still seems like Trump is practicing something learned in:
Bargaining 101 - Start High Accept Low.
With Mexico, it was a promise of 10,000 Mexican troops to the border.
The same number that the Biden administration achieved, without the use of threats!
With Canada it was easier! Use of the funds; already allocated, targeting cross border security!
Leaving the 10% tariff targeting China!
…and of course the threats made against the EU!

Trump says US will ‘take over’ Gaza Strip and doesn’t rule out using American troops

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/04/poli ... index.html
Have to wonder if the two sides of Trump’s brain ever communicate with each other?
During his campaign, he very often reiterated that old American mantra about “staying out of foreign entanglements!” Whether he believed it or not, he sold it to his adoring minions!
This is where a dichotomy arises…
Announcing that the USA will take over ownership; and send in troops to what is probably the most contentious area on the plane…the Gaza Strip!!! To disarm the local population; that will hate them like the pestilence!
Wonder if there are any of the old Vietnam “tunnel rats” still around. Their experience would be invaluable.

One aspect is to resettle all Gazans, and make it into a Riviera with golf courses and resorts etc.
I suggest Florida USA for a resettlement site?

Vice President Vance uttered a few very descriptive words in a recent speech: “…the enemy within…”!
Out of the mouths of babes and… (Well, put in your own adjective…idiots, drunks…whatever!)
Ever since its very inception, there’s been one very nasty fly in the ointment of every Soviet and Russian leader since Stalin: NATO!!!
They’ve tried to destabilize it, sew dissention, but the Alliance has held….until!
Donald Trump President of the U.S.A.!!!
What else could he have thought would happen?
As the leading power in the Alliance, turning in a treacherous, back-stabbing move to try to grab the province of one member, and levy crippling trade tariffs against another?
Somewhere Putin is laughing his ass off!
After all he had a past in the K.G.B… ;)

Recent developments around Trump are very scary.

Observing Trumps behaviour during his first tenure including that infamous meeting with Putin have let me suspect that the FSB may have its claws into him. I still don't know if that is so or not. Viewing his behavior now makes that much more likely. Still got no proof.

BUT

What is clear is that the question of whether Trump is an actual FSB asset is less important that the question of what damage he really does:

And what he does is 1. weaken the US military by decapitating its leadership, 2. weaken the FBI, weaken the department of justice, 3. weaken to the point of destroying NATO, 3. backstabbing UKraine, giving it away to Russia, and simply throwing out the guarantee for Ukraine's territorial integrity that the US has signed in the Budapest memorandum 4. undermining the democracies of Europe by trying to promote hate-speech in Europe und pushing right-wing extremist movements.

In conclusion: he couldn't behave more like an FSB asset if he tried. Whether he actually is one is moot.

We are completely and utterly screwed.

If we want to survive we need to do it without US support. Actually against Russia and the US I am afraid. In my opinion Europe's only chance now would be if those countries that are interested and willing find together and form a much more close union with a single foreign policy, single security policy and army, single economic policy and single social and immigration policy. And immediately start a giant armament programm and procure just about anything that can be obtained within 2 years (everything arriving later that that will probably make no difference anymore).

Alas: I don't see that happening.

Screwed.

First off a declaration, I'm 76 and not a US citizen.
OK, I believe that I haven't changed yet, or lost my marbles. Mind you, I wouldn't want to reenter the maelstrom career I was in 20 years ago.
The whole world needs an ascendancy from the democratic free side to stay sane and safe. After all, dictators just get told what they want to hear,
Trump does seem to have lost it, and his acolytes just follow on.
Zelenski is a dictator with 4% support, yeah right,
I do wonder (as an Australian) about how a company has just discovered 500 millions tons here of rare earths here. Perhaps Zelanski is negotiating a US guarantee of security against a diminishing asset?

Trump accuses Zelensky of 'gambling with World War Three'

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c9dejydynngo
Trump does have a tendency of exaggerating, when he is doing his BFF Putin a favor.
After his one-on-one with Putin; during his previous term, he came out and told an astounded world, that the miniscule nation of Montenegro (with around 650,000 populations, and a military of around 6,000) was a danger to world peace!
While I seriously doubt that Trump even knew where Montenegro was located, Putin certainly did! Especially since NATO and Montenegrin intelligence had at that time just forestalled a pro-Russian putsch, with solid evidence pointing straight to the Russian FSB!
This time it’s Ukraine that’s cast in the role.
I guess that to Trump, when a weaker part stands up to a stronger. it offends his world view.
He and his pet pit bull Vance actually thought that they could pressure Zelensky. When that failed, they accused him of insulting the Oval Office by his refusal, and kicked him out of the WH!
I’ve said it before, but Putin and his minions must be laughing their asses off!!!
