This is reaching the point of mindlessly spamming the board now. You're not making arguments you're just posting links to people dying in different ways as if there is anyone here who doesn't know that happens.

OMG!
You're almost beginning to understand.

The gun debate in the US is dominated by statistics on gun deaths.
The vast majority of gun deaths in the US are suicides!
In spite of the easy access to guns in the US, the US has traditionally had a very low suicide rate compared to "civilized" countries with stringent gun control.

The logical implication is that when guns are unavailable, people will find other means to commit suicide.

The same logic applies to homicide.

Now consider the idiocy of the consternation over knife crime in Great Britain. The "guns are evil" mantra is so ingrained in British culture that you morons fixate on the corollary of knives rather than on true causes such as arrest rates or horror of horrors, demographics. ( The differential is not as extreme in the UK as the US, yet). One of your newspapers had the termerity to publish an article adressing the sudden decline in arrest rates for homicide which have suddenly fallen from 90% to 72%. The response of the British government is to conceal the information on past arrest rates.

It might be logical but it's also wrong. The availability and effectiveness of suicide methods affects the success and number of suicide attempts.

Great, then you don't need guns for self defense because you can use cinder blocks JUST AS EFFECTIVELY as weapons! That's why you see so many mass casualty cinder blockings in schools these days... and so many successful cinder block suicides.

(or... maybe... you're full of crap and know it)

The true intent of the person also affects the selection of suicide methods. Psych wards are full of people, mostly women, who have transverse scars from repeatedly slashing their wrists. Morgues have far fewer cadavers, mostly women, who have longitudinal wounds from slashing their wrists. The morgues also have many suicial cadavers that died from poisening or from jumping off a high place that have transverse scars on their wrists. Any competent psychologist or psychiatrist will tell you that the patients with transverse slashes on their wrists knew damn well that they would survive. They were merely acting out to express their distress.

All of the "research" about how weapons lethality affects the number of suicide attempts and fatalities is refuted by the reality.

Your "logic" is recursive.

You forgot about matches and pop bottles filled with gasoline.

Yes, yet another obviously equivalent substitute you can use for home defense, negating the argument that you need guns for protection.

Right?

Obviously; patching the bullet holes in the walls and replacing the carpet that has been stained with blood from deceased intruders is much cheaper than rebuilding your home after you have burned it down, killing yourself and your family in the process.

Obviously; the Japanese need to take action to prevent suicide by banning ropes, cords, neckties and sashes.

Incidentally; I always wear a belt and carry an extra pair of shoelaces whenever I have to fly.

Oh I forgot about the Japanese banning extension cords.

Lots of tragedies involved in suicides. Two in particular come to mind.
It is a significant statistic here, that in times of severe drought the incidence of adult male single vehicle accidents spikes up. Well insured farm owners, who have high speed collisions on country roads with large trees. Desperate men doing their final act to provide for their families.
The other one is attention seeking teenage girls who ingest very large amounts of paracetamol, and are found tragically sprawled across their beds. As planned, get found and have their stomachs pumped out. However as not planned, if not found soon enough are then told that they have ruined their liver, and unless a suitable donor is found will die anyway in about two months.
