Well the Hikawis had to be acceptable for prime time TV back in the 60’s. The Fugawee’s would never have made it past the network censors.

P.S. - Why was it "F Troop"

I'm old enough to remember the show, but young enough that my vocabulary at the time was still missing some words, including the F one. Never occurred to me to ask that question.

I was also too young to consider the "F" in Troop due to lacking that variety of vocabulary, and to be perfectly honest, until today, still had not. As for the fukawee tribe, my experience with them was not as specific as detailed in the original explanatory post, being limited to an admission of probable membership in said tribe.

I must say that this has been the most entertaining thread in quite a while.

1. Is that Cornell thing available to the average bear?
2. Where are more up-to-date maps than Fifthimperium's?
Many thanks.

What do you mean by "available"?

A 27Kx13K version can be downloaded from https://www.classe.cornell.edu/%7Eseb/c ... x.html#3.2

The software to view it projected on a globe also is readily available for download.

That version of the planetary map was created, with permission from David, by (imperfectly) scaling and overlaying the maps available at http://www.davidweber.net/downloads/ind ... t/series:6

I'm not aware of David having made available any more recent maps.

Truth be told, I've always associated the "F" in F Troop to be a reference to school grades where an F grade meant Failure.

Yeah, I always assumed the F came from them being the 3rd troop in the 2nd company of their regiment. Not that I didn't go 'how appropriate' from time to time, but it was not particularly significant.
