That's part of the reason they are fleeing.

We rag on US gun death statistics a lot, with good reason, but the US is a hell of a lot safer than where they are running from.

Did you have a point?

That the US is 6:th on the list of homicides committed?

Even you should be smart enough tounderstand that the proper metric is homicide rate, not total homicides without context of population.

African-Americans comprise 1/8 of the US population yet they commit over 1/2 of all homicides and nearly 2/3s of gun homicides. African Americans are LESS likely to own guns than whites. Anyone with a brain would underatand that these statistics confirm that the problem is people rather than guns.

Now we have a tidal wave of overwhelmingly young male invaders from countries whose homicide rates nearly exceed the homicide rate of African Americans. You think may be this will result in an increase in homicides?

We can be good Christians by helping these countries rebuild while encouraging them to reform their political systems.

MAKE LATIN AMERICA GREAT.

That's the thing Fly.

After America* had a huge hand on messing the countries up, the best thing it can do is take in it's refugee's and educate their children so they can return and make the place better.

But that is the sort of planning and politics that is beyond modern politics.

*Not just America of course

It may be viable in early 2000s, when the Pax America seems indefatigable, and the "history's end" philosophy assumed that the humane liberal capitalism & free marked would eventually turn the whole world in one big, happy America.

By the late 2010s, it is obviously not the possibility anymore. American supremacy is challenged openly by China, less openly by other nations and power blocks, the "end of the history" thinking came to the end because it became obvious that free market is NOT the universal solution for absolute happiness. By now, America did not have such excessive resources anymore, and need to gather what resource it have for supremacy struggle against China.

We have a current example how good it works with Cuba. Instead of encouraging Cuban government for its reform attempts, the current course of US policy here is to screech "NOOOOOT ENOOOOOUG!!!" and punish them for not immediatelt doing everything US wanted.

Unfortunately for Washington, Cubans aren't the nation that bend easily for outsiders. Not for Spanish, not for Americans. Even USSR, who was considered Cuban best friend, was forced to be very careful to not rub them the wrong way.

Anyone with a brain would understand that the real problem is due to socio-economic politics (historically and current) which disenfranchise black people.

And what are your basis for the demographics of the refugees?

MAKE LATIN AMERICA GREAT.

You mean the current political systems that are propped up by the USA among others?

Well said. It would be helpful if Russia was not so motivated by the Ukraine FUBAR to provide weapons technology to China.

People forget that at the end of WW2, the US was by Far the biggest economy in the world. Even during the Cold War, only a few countries had nukes which enabled deterrence to work. This is no longer true. I expect that the prediction that China will become preeminent over the US are exagerated but China is and will remain a peer until China's imploding demographics shrinks its workforce. We only need to negotiate the dangerous decade before China's demographics and the death of megalomanical leader reduces hostilities.

The "Bush Lied, People Died" jubilation combined with the betrayal of Gadaffie ensures that this will no longer be true. I expect that the prediction that China will become preeminent over the US are exagerated but China is and will remain a peer until China's imploding demographics shrinks its workforce. We only need to negotiate the dangerous decade before China's demographics and the death of megalomanical leader reduces hostilities. Rescinding the INF treaty is needed to enable the US and Russia to match Chinese systems.
