There are more than a few people capable of running the navy. We may not know all names but they are there.

And we know there are a whole lot of people just below the top who are really good like Terekhov and Oversteegan.

I'm betting that Harrington Steading will become the home of a new combined navies advanced tactical course.

I doubt it. It's out of the way and Honor will not want to run it. They have a great ATC in Manticore and they can have Haven officers there.

Also, assign officers to each other's navies. That will overcome a real lot of the old issues.

They've been doing that for like 17 years.

Who said she'd run it, or even be on staff?

Now, an occasional guest lecturer and monthly dinner host ...

She is at heart a teacher, and even Hamish would say that providing her that minimal outlet would be good for her.

Assuming of course that she settles on Grayson.

And of course it could be co-located with other Grayson naval training facilities.

The wall may demobilize but the light escort forces won't/can't demobilize quickly. Given that the Solarian League will be shedding a very large number of systems (Maya, RF, Beowulf etc and an incredible number of Verge and Fringe systems), anti-piracy patrolling will be a massive force demand generator over the next generation for the RMN. It makes the Silesian problem look simple.

I will be curious what happens with the wormhole network seized in Lacoon I and II. When are they opened back up for normal commerce?

And once they open back up and if/when any are returned to non-Alliance hands, how quickkly are they forted up?

Remember, from a Solarian perspective, the situation looks a lot like Gaul 300-400AD with the barbarians a real threat so the response of defended hard points and chokepoints proliferated.

Guys, please do note that Elizabeth never said the RMN was going to go back to pre-Havenite War levels. She said there would be a build-down, and there will. And a whole big bunch of SD(P)s that are "built down" will go into a Reserve Fleet that is maintained and updated (or be transferred to loyal allies) and a whole big bunch of RMN spacers and officers who were members of the reserve will go back to the merchant marine, from whence they can be recalled at need. She is not talking about the sort of rollback which would leave her subjects vulnerable (assuming equality of tech) by anyone much smaller than the SL. She's simply saying that fiscal realities coupled with threat levels --- we're in more danger from a sneak attack that gets in undetected (and sheer numbers of hulls won't change that) than we are from any conventional attack --- are going to dictate that the RMN contract, while fiscal and political realities are going to force a proportionately far larger contraction on the PRN. Will the RMN once again be biased (by hull count) in favor of lighter units? Darn tooting. But shrink the wall and the CLACs beyond a safe point? Not while anyone who remembers what happened to Beowulf --- and 99% the RMN's Admiralty --- is still using up oxygen.

After all, someday they will find the Alignment . . . .

As for the captured worm holes . . . Ah! Who knows?

Don't suppose there could be grist for a low level of tension with the SL out of that, do you? Not saying I have any intention of going there. Just saying I don't have any intention of not going there, either.

I have two or three stories along those lines already running in my head (and will never commit to paper/electrons)

I figured a decent chunk of the SDP wall could demobilize to at least a ready reserve (10-20% active duty crew and at a plus 60 day notice etc) but I have a hard time seeing how the RMN does not spam out light cruisers by the gross-load.

I guess any SD not Keyhole II equipped is obsolete. Also any ones built before the merger of the GA R&D program will also be phased out.

So how is Kumhalo going to react to his flag ship being replaced?

In wrapping up the Havenite Sector wars, The War with the Solarian League and the revelation of the entity once refered to as the Mesan Alliance. Along with the the Death of three Space lords of Manticore, the High Admiral of Grayson, Several members of the Boewulf System Government and Military leaderships along with numerous Ambassadors and 43 Million people. The Mad Wizard aka runsforcelery manage to achive a political solution by military means to end the wars which have been instigated by parties unknown.

He has managed to foil at least two the parties unknown objectives: 1. Mutual destruction of Manticore and Haven (Havenite Sector). 2. The Breakup or total collapse of the Solarian league.

The impact the combined four Admiralties will naturally be different. To date the Grand Alliance Admiralties have only shown active operations of Manticore, Gryason and Haven. However when operations moved to Sol one would expect that Boewulf would take an active part in those operations despite their hardware inferiority. My only question would be did the Andermani take part in those Operations.

In the case of Haven given the written text their Admiralty leadership change may have the least impact of replacements due to death. Until Lester is recalled to Manticore at least Tom will i suspect remain in Manticore.

In the Case of Manticore they at the very least need to replace the 1st, 2nd and 5th Space Lords. Along with the Home Fleet Commander and 8th Fleet which seemed to be one of Honor's Many Hats.

Has Alice Truman been Promoted to Admiral? Was her detachment of the 8th Fleet formally transfered or activated as another Fleet?

Naturally the Recall of Admirals Sarnow, Henke aka Gold Peak will happen at some point. Manticore does have a number of other Vice and Admiral's who we have met, like Vice Admiral Jessup Blaine and Quentin O'Malley. Both of whom may very well have been on the short list for full Admiral's Rank.

Our beloved Mad Wizard aka runsforcelery has left himself lots of wiggle room.

With that stated it is my expectation that Manticore will at least resume a rotation policy of its Admirals similar to what it did in the build up to the Haventive war under both King Roger and Queen & Empress Elizabeth.

In the Case of Boewulf Vice Admiral Marianne Holmon-Sanders could very well become the head of their Admiralty as one of the few named Boewulf Admirals to date and was not named in text as been dead.

In the case of Grayson, It would be interesting to see which of the named characters including Rear Admiral Alenka Borderwijk could be come the first Female High Admiral or even Alfredo Yu...

Darn it i wish the Mad Wizard aka runsforcelery could clone himself for as much i i wish to see the final War I also wish to also see all the small intervening political and military brush fires and skullduggery by the intelligence agents of all parties.

I started reading this series in 1994 and all the other published works at this point you really do need a clone to complete all your literary works...
