I'll miss him.

Wind to his wings.

"Oh, bother!" said Pooh, as Piglet came back from the dead.

I'm very sorry to hear that.
I never met him but I enjoyed both his novels and, back in the day, his Chaos Manner column for Byte (and later his blog)

I met Jerry many years ago...I believe it was in the 1970's. He was supposed to make an appearance at a bookstore at a mall and the publicist screwed up the dates.

I went into the store and saw him sitting by himself at a table. I had already read Mote in God's Eye and we had a long chat, followed by a nice lunch.

He was charming and brilliant. I followed him on his blog for years and, of course, enjoyed his books.

RIP, Jerry. You were one of the good ones.

Is one of the Maya Sector worlds named "Jerry"?

The map I have lists 7:

(L.) Sprague (deCamp)
Isaac (Asimov)
Poul (Anderson)
Murray (Leinster)
Randal (Garret)
Edwin (Balmer?) - Probably (E)dwin (C)harles Tubb per Robert Woodward. Thanks!
Robert (Heinlein)

I'm not entirely sure, but I think they had all died by the time the map was made. There may be some others in the area whose names I don't recognize.

Edit: add E.C. Tubb for Edwin. Also: I'm curious about Kay.

The question of who the heck Edwin is has been bugging me for several years.

I have found two more possibilities:

Edwin Abbot, author of _Flatland_
Edwin Charles Tubb (aka E. C. Tubb), a very busy author with more pseudonyms than some people have books.
