When the Arcanne's attacked Fort Salby the second time, why didn't they just drop rocks or boulders from a high altitude out of range of the guns? Rocks are cheap.

Some combination of three things. Payload and Altitude limits of the Dragons, Dragons should be subject to the same ~10,000 ft altitude limit as unacclimated humans. Time required to get that load up to the height required. The officers in charge not thinking of that approach is probably the main one though.

Even if someone had thought to try this approach, the accuracy of the dropped rocks would be much more miss than hit.

How many levitation spell accumulators would it have used up? If lifting tons of rock that high would have significantly impacted their ability freight in food, they would have discarded the notion. The equation would have came down to how many tons of rocks are needed to be lifted and dropped to sufficiently soften the defenses? I have to assume it's a large amount.

Now I'm wondering if Arcana will ever take a page out of the WW1 fighter pilots handbook and carry metal darts to drop on troops.
