One of my favorite philosophers, George Carlin:

Get on the plane? Fuck you, I'm getting in the plane. That's where they put the seats!

What's the big deal about First Class? If both ends of the plane don't get there at the same time, everybody's fucked anyway.

Okay. Where is this from?

One of Mike Shepherd's Kris Longknife books. Picked some up at a used-book store.

Which Kris Longknife book? I did a search and couldn't find it.

I believe it was Resolute. I might not have remembered the wording quite right.

Beowulf was bad, but Captain Valkanhayn did his job, and they got what they came for.

It took several searches, but I finally found:

"If I understand your defense posture,"..."It's to make like roadkill in the ditch and hope that no vulture takes an interest in you."

(it is chapter 2 of _Resolute_)

Always a favorite, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

Three prisoners chained together who have narrowly missed by the weakest link of successfully jumping on a train...

"Well, alright. We take off thru that bayou and..."

"Waitaminute. Who elected you leader of this outfit?"

"Well Pete, I figured it should be the one with the capacity for abstract thought, but if that ain't the consensus view then hell let's put it to a vote."

"Suits me." Jerking the chain. "I'm votin' for yours truly."

"I'm votin' for yours truly too." Jerking the chain as well, even harder in the opposite direction. Now they're both looking at the third prisoner chained to them in anticipation of his vote, the deciding vote, in which direction to flee.

"Well ah, okay, I'm with you fellers."

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

A couple I met at the beach on July 4th...

"Honey, the difference between the sexes is growing smaller."

"So is the corresponding amount of sex."

Hogans Heroes

"This is a Nazi rocket we've found."

"How long will it take you to take it apart?"

"Oh, about a few hours. Much less if I guess wrong."

We've all heard:

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action.

But wouldn't that mean the first two were enemy action?
