I'm going to list this as an understatement but it can certainly be contested because perhaps Honor nailed it perfectly. Even so, Honor regarding Elizabeth...

"Holding a grudge so long that it dies of old age, whereupon she takes it to a taxidermist and has it mounted."

I imagine she keeps the taxidermist and Mount Royal's walls rather busy.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

In fact John, your listing "Oops!" as an understatement is an understatement! LOL

Here's one for the record. Textev claims to recognize its own understatement...

"Admiral Hemphill and I haven't always been on the same page," she began, and Hemphill actually chuckled.

"You might say that, Your Grace," she said, "if you're given to understatement.

Immediately followed by another understatement...
"I was younger then, Admiral," Honor said almost demurely. "And I was mildly irritated, at the time."

This exchange is a side-splitter every time.

"Nothing in the universe had a shorter half-life than a politician's memory for inconvenient facts"

That's what I think is the biggest understatement.

Harrington's thoughts vs Harold Styles...
Her personal opinion was that the People's Navy did the Manticoran Alliance a huge favor by capturing him.

Calling this an "understatement" is itself an understatement I'm thinking. ;)
****

Just my opinion of course and probably not worth the paper it's not written on.
