As a big fan of Mr. Webers writing, especially the SafeHold and Honorverse series, I would like to have a general idea as to how much longer.how many more books, until their completion?

As Mr.Weber and I are close to the same age, sometimes before the expiration date of either of us would be nice!!

Checking the SafeHold forum, the repeated mention of the
"next series" is particularly disturbing. After 8 big, fantastic books covering the planetary war, I dare say a lot of fans are anxious to get at the evil(from man kinds perspective) aliens!!

Although not exactly "dis-appointed" in the latest book, I will say that I do think the conclusion of the war between Charis and the AoGA was kind of anti-climatic.

Thanks, and best wishes for successful and happy 2017.

Don't know "how many books" will be in the "next" part of the Safehold series but IIRC David Weber has said that he doesn't intend to write the story about the War between Safehold (and her colonies) and the Gbaba.

I believe that he said he would give an afterword concerning the result of that war but apparently he'll end the Series after Safehold learns the Truth (and likely after the defeat of the Returning Archangels).

Mind you, I may be mistaken. ;)

Current plans seem to include flash forwarding the story some 10-15 years and show how the next war, the war over revealing the truth to Safehold, will come together and how humanity will handle the revelation. As for how many more books he has in him in this series, your guess is as good as mine but I would wager 6 books at most. OAR was written with an eye towards a similar flash forward in BSRA but the way the story shaped up, RFC went with a lengthier structure and started naming the books for Christian hymns. So with such a flash forward and with the expected return of the "Archangels" I don't think there's more than 6 such books remaining.

The reason is because you've been spoiled by previous novels in which the ICA and the RSA encircle a church army and eliminate it. But RFC has always favored realism over "war porn" as he once termed it. As such, not only does the enemy evolve and learn new strategies with which to counter the good guys, but people also suffer from PTSD and the other psychological wounds of warfare. That's why the last book ended the way it did. That, and perhaps the foresight Merlin voices that simply having unfettered access to Temple would not be enough. They need to bring about a sea change in thought throughout Safehold and conquering the Temple might not of accomplished that.

Well, call me shallow, spoiled or whatever you will, the narrator "thoughts" concerning the series is pretty much a downer as far as I am concerned.

I am just your normal everyday kinda guy. I seldom follow
syfy/science fiction series or continuing movie series because they almost always devolve into petty political struggles and psy ops bs.

Give me a book, or series, that has a great plot/story line and action and I will read it forever, every book.

If the narrators thoughts are really the way this series is going, personally, I doubt I will do more than check out the next book and probably not even finish it.

Really, a synopsis or general summary of how it all will end as to the war against the Gabba, bah humbug and balderdash.

I want RFC/MWW to enjoy his kids, wife, and lifestyle that he has earned by keeping me and many other people entertained over the last twenty-five plus years. I (and I think everybody else) would appreciate an update on what his next project is if anyone happens to run into him at a convention. [Of course I will add a year to whatever date is announced for that next product in whatever world/universe that project addresses. ]

Personally I would really appreciate it if the series included the Gbabba war.

The problem is he's already written it... several times. There's only so many times he can write about the Great Human War Against The Bugs / Aachultanii (sp?) / Galactic Federation, etc.

If he writes another Great Space War series I'd prefer to see the GalFed from The Excalibur Alternative be the antagonist. They were a varied and interesting Big Bad Guy, with a rich culture of many races and mixed client/slave states and lots of opportunity for storyline.

I just can't imagine the MWW writing yet another series about a remorseless genocidal alien menace. Been there, done that. Got the book signed even.

all too true.

if we are lucky we will get a epilogue in final book of next series (if he writes that series, it has not been confirmed that he will as yet) that basically says.

"The fight was hard and long but the superior tech advatage of the safehold federation meant that the Gabba had been slowly but inexorably crushed and were now confined to 3/whatever number of planets where they would be watched in the likely vain hope that sometime in the future the federation would able to let them roam the galaxy again"

while I would like a bit more then that, it just isn't very likely

What is if the storyline end´s because of Actions of OUTSIDEof safehold?

Who said, that safehold was the only surviving Project?

What is, if there is another colony who had an good leader at the beginning, like Halvesen or how ever his Name was (The one at the beginning as the others was sad because Longhorn get the Position).

What is, if that colony grow and develope their tec and after a few centuries, defeat the Gbaba.

What do you think how the People on safehold will react, if Humans in spaceships come down the sky?

"The Arkangels are Back!" ???

Another way would be, what if another Alien race who haven´t contact with the Gbaba find safehold. Could be interesting, too.

The Point is:
If some peaceful space travellers arrive at safehold it could Speed up the whole storyline.

I believe that RFC has said this was the only project they had time to mount before the TFN was destroyed by the Gbaba. They would have done more with more time.
