Our compulsory voting system is old fashioned.
When you go to vote they cross you off the paper electrol roll with a ruler and pencil, without checking ID. There have been pushes to have ID checked, but when the electoral rolls are crosschecked later on there historically hasn't been any cheating. It also is federally run so uniform across the country.
The votes are then counted manually over days.
Mind you we don't generally get as passionate about it as the US, although the people have zero tolerance for corruption, or using political influence for personal benefit.
The US circus fascinates us as it seems so full on yet gets such crappy results.

In many ways the US process is much more ....Darwinian. Each state manages their own elections, even the federal elections. Corruption runs the gamut between corrupt-Dem to clean to corrupt Rep. Some places like Chicago are simply off the charts. Consistent success in elections allows corruption and the successful party to build a network of cronies. Again this is true for Dems and Repubs.

Yet one thing shines through. In those places where 1 party has a lock on the elections, the level of corruption is horrible and the plight impoverished in those jurisdictions is abysmal.

Not third world abysmal because lots of welfare is thrown at that problem. But those caught in that trap are almost irretrievably stuck in it. They are largely left in a condition where they must take handouts from their betters with no chance of making their condition better.

You have already established that you are remarkably bad at filtering the bullshit out of your facebook stream, but I am nevertheless curious: Given the mechanisms of the US presidential election, how exactly do you think this supposed rigging of the vote is going to happen? Not just in a few precincts here or there, but broadly enough to ensure a Clinton victory? In how many precincts would rigging be effective (given that rigging precincts already voting mostly democrat is probably not going to happen), and how many of those have republicans overseeing the election?

Or is this just a rehash of the last election cycle, where some republicans were screaming about rigged elections because some precincts reported no votes for their candidate (while ignoring that there also were precincts reporting no vote for Obama)?

Hmm, there is evidence oth Republicans and Democrats when asolid majority in a district fail to count votes against their party. But generally the republicans don't give the opponent zero votes an obvious clue to a rigged election. If you belive the elections are fair without rigging you have not paid attention to the elections this century election fraud has been shown in them all, and in a test of Chicago voting machines some were already wired to count votes for either Democrat or Republican as Democrat. With no voter identification and registration at the polls people vote early and often.

As for the other an impartial man is more elusive than an honest one. Cynicism comes with age and experience.

Would you mind pointing the class at this evidence? And I don't mean hunting down some isolated case where it's happened once or twice in history, but that is is somehow systematic?

And if you think the general is actually rigged by the Democrats, how are the Republicans letting them get away with it when they run a large amount of the state governments in states the Democrats need to win to get Clinton the presidency?

And are the Democrats also rigging all the polling that shows Clinton is going to wipe Trump out? Are the Democrats in charge of, for example, Fox News polling now ?

(and, you know, basically ALL the other polling companies)?

Not a cartoon but Dave Barry's year in review is out. Looks like he followed the Jay Leno rule and counted the jokes.
