No, my objection would not stand.

Our founding revolution was nasty and bloody. Lots of bad shiet went around and around. Both sides. All sides. Most just wanted to be left alone.

Considering the population at the time, three percent were not all that many. Figuring 10 million armed law abiding citizens today could, if they were forced to, might start a LEGAL revolt. We have probably 100 million armed citizens in the USA and nearly all of them never go out and kill people. A few, but not many. More die by accidents. Many more from cars. Many many more from disease.

There are only about 220,000 legal automatic weapons in the USA. Guess what? Since 1932 there have been only less than six documented crimes committed by these armed citizens using THEIR OWN LEGAL REGISTERED MACHINE GUN. Six times over 80 years. It is a non event. Does not happen. An armed society is a protected and polite society. But then a gun does not have the range or power of sweet and pleasant dreams and false security of nanny states.

It has become apparent that the slaves and sheeple will remain slaves and sheeple. It may be beyond their large comfort zone to even think such reactionary thoughts such as liberty and freedom. If such words piss off the slaves and sheeple so be it. I cut to the mark and let the chips fall where they may.

Respect must be earned. I will not give it out freely. Sosss ... maybe it is NOT true when I say "respectfully" to some on this science fiction literary forum. Some here have not earned it. Take it or leave it. I do not care either way. GUNS GUNS GUNS right in your face. Non respectfully to some.

Respectfully to the rest. An excellent Science Fiction Writers Forum. All Oregon State, US Code Laws And NFA Rules Apply.

Moderator: Consider banning some of this forum's sheeple, slaves and nanny state sit-at-homes. They are so pacified they do not have a clue. Or ... ban me if you want to kill the messenger. I for one have have just about enough shiet here from some. This excellent forum needs to trim back the sub forums.

You didn't actually answer his objections...

smr wrote:Many of globalist/utopians want everyone in the US to be disarmed. For Gun seizure to happen, they have to go door to door to take the weapons and that means a civil war. Take what happened with the shootings in Dallas. The American government now has the legal right to use a robot to kill a suspect with a bomb...the legal precedent was set! That is the most scary fact of all and most people do not even realize that fact. The legal precedent has been set by the Dallas police department using a robot to drop a bomb to kill a suspect. Where is the outcry from our own media.

If a police sniper had shot him instead, would your objection still stand?

A side note on the "respect must be earned" attitude. It's wrong. Respect is the default setting. You should treat all others with respect unless and until they do something to show that they don't deserve it. It's disrespect that must be earned.

Respect like admiration is earned. Disrespect is likewise earned. The default attitude is civility, the formal politeness and courtesy in behavior and speech. One can be civil to a person and still have intense disrespect for that person.

NOUN
1.a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements:
"the director had a lot of respect for Douglas as an actor"
synonyms: esteem · regard · high opinion · admiration · reverence ·
[more]
2.a particular aspect, point, or detail:
"the government's record in this respect is a mixed one"
synonyms: aspect · regard · facet · feature · way · sense · particular ·
[more]
VERB
1.admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements:
"she was respected by everyone she worked with" ·
[more]
synonyms: esteem · admire · think highly of · have a high opinion of ·
[more]

A study conducted to determine the source of firearms used in crimes recovered by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police found that gun rights advocates have been right for years.

The study, led by epidemiologist Anthony Fabio of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health, partnered with the Pittsburgh Police to identify the origins of the 893 firearms police recovered from crime scenes in the year 2008.

But there's no need to focus on Texas and Florida — the data are similar in other states.

Another way to read that result is by pointing out that the fact that so many guns go wandering about when their owners aren't looking indicates a need for stricter regulation regarding the safe storage of a gun, and that there just so many guns around that it is trivial for a criminal to acquire one.

But surely this was pointed out in an article written on an impartial, strictly facts only site like "bearingarms.com".

Good suggestion! When will you start following it?

The E, I was going to make damn near the same point.

With no real regulation tracking change of ownership, how can you determine the current legal owner?

What good are studies, Douglass, if the terms we use to communicate do not share a common definition between all participants?

Regarding guns, the most consistent correlation in studies show a direct relationship between population density and gun deaths. All the rest appear to be dross. How do we fix the inner cities that breed such death and violence?

All this thread has become is ideological masturbation with each side going through the motion to please him/her self.

But hey, while the gun rights folks are championing their cause, they ignore the thousands of folks who die each year from gun-related violence. But hey, who cares? After all, those victims are strangers. Every person for himself. They should have borne arms to shoot back, so if they didn't they deserved to be killed.

THAT is the message I get when I listen to the gun rights folks.

This is most idiotic post I have read in quite a bit. Everyone who disagrees with this POV must be a heartless monster. It reads like something a DNC or Hillary campaign hack would write.
