I just read about Gaspar Yanga (who, by the time of the Ring of Fire, had probably died), a captured prince from Gabon, who rebelled against the Spanish near Veracruz, Mexico, and then established a town of freed slaves and runaways. It would be interesting for the SoTF to extend feelers towards this kind of community, to see if they can help to insert agents into New Spain and help promote Mexican independence a few centuries early. This kind of low cost strategy could pay off in a large way, given that the Spanish are the strongest belligerents against the USE and its allies.

A couple 1632 authors are aware of communities like this. Can't promise it'll come up, but they know it's there.
