No 8. "Moored! Shift Colors! Now Liberty Call!" As the crew hits the beach after being at underway for 7 months without seeing land!

No 9. My favorite that I remember since the ship I was on was caught in the middle of a typhon and the Captain announced over the ships 1Mc "All hands are reminded to sleep with their life jackets on."

Why? The forward gunmount had sprung a leak at the base of the mount and the forward part of the ships was slowly filling with water.

I can somehow see how this might end badly... But hey, worse case all you'd have to do is abandon ship in a typhoon. How hard can that be?

Hooah!

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

I'm sure this would fall in here somewhere

"I've done this for years..."

and

"Nobody's caught this yet"

This isn't quite the same thing, but I was once treated to a presentation which started out with the two biggest lies in the navy. This happened on a nuclear submarine in port.

Nuclear Reactor Inspector: We're here to help you, sir!

Captain: Welcome Aboard.
