As we all know, the end is night for the saga of Honor Harrinton. And as many die hard fans know- originally there was to have been the Death of Honor followed by a gap of roughly 20 years until her and Hamish's children became the main characters. While I for one am glad Honor was spared- that future that never was could have offered some interesting situation. Here a a few lines that I would have loved to see in the future- say 16-17 years from now.
"Midshipman Raoul Harrington Alexander reporting for duty Captain Zilwicki" ( you know how MWW loves plot twists- imagine the Grayson Conservatives reaction if Raoul decided the RMN was the place for him ) and in that vein " Midshipman Katherine Alexander reporting for duty Captain Hearns" (again the reaction of the Conservatives alone would be worth reading - "We got stuck with her daughter! It's like history repeating itself ! Time to move to Masada!" But my dream sequence would still be only a brief while into the future: Looking down at the bare alloy of her prosthetic arm, stripped of its "skin " in the intense fighting, Honor rubbed at the blood on it before speaking "Well Mr Detweiler, I must admit you can take a punch like no one I've ever met. But it's over. You've lost. You plans for being a galactic overlord are as finished as your navy. And I won't deny a tremendous amount of satisfaction for having a part in derailing it. You massacred millions, including a very large part of my family. But , my need for vengeance will have to be unfulfilled. I cannot and will not shoot a man armed only with his bare hands." She steps aside as three treecats step forward, Nimitz Samantha and Moonlight Dancing . "However, we've decided that since Moonlight Dancings entire clan was wiped out by your "Oyster Bay", that the Treecats of Sphinx should be allowed to issue their own brand of justice." Ends with three silibant hisses...and screams . |

IIRC, David has indicated only one of Honor's kids would end up going the military route. The other was going to be involved in the intelligence aspects of the war against the MAlign (probably trained by Anton Zilwicki). ========================

*Pedantic Mode on* Moonlight Dancing is the name of a treecat Clan. The clan that was wiped out in the Yawata Strike was Black Rock clan, and it's sole survivor was Sorrow Singer. *Pedantic mode off* ![]() ![]() ![]() ***********************************************

I DO appreciate that you read the post and offered the correction- considering I have my earc file of that chapter up I'm not sure how I made that mental hiccup. B.All input is graefully accepted. C. Pedanticism needs a cure. |

In particular don't forget Honor Mayhew - with a name like that, she is certain to want a Navy career. ========================

Markm57, you should know that David has indicated that there may yet be a gap in the books. After he concludes the current sequence, he may write another series set a couple decades further along. So it could still happen.
