A Rising Thunder
Ivanov speaking. Transplanted from passages thread, because me likey! Lots.
If you’ve done neither at the end of those ten minutes, I will open fire once more, and this time we’ll be firing for effect.

Or, to quote Danny Glover in Silverado ... "I don't wanna kill you and you don't wanna be dead."

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

"They also serve who stand and weld," Warner replied solemnly.

A solemn moment I dedicate to Paul Tankersley.

On Basilisk Station Speaking to White Haven.
"So you and Admiral Webster want me to hang Young out to dry?"

Naaa ... just hang him. Young's birth was a capital offense.

"I'd just as soon have her making angry decisions instead of good ones."

I don't think you really needed to try so hard to get Crandall to make angry decisions, Mike. I'm fairly certain she's never made a good and smart decision in her entire life.

On Basilisk Station
Dame Estelle had looked ready to bite pieces out of the furniture, but as Honor had listened to her account of the meeting, she'd understood perfectly.

I'll say it four score thousand times, an angry woman is sooo sexy. An angry, beautiful woman is just plain ... disarming.

Aside:
Who could play the part of Dame Estelle? Such a fine dame is she!

Beside Aside:
Gal Gadot is playing Wonder Woman. She could've had a more Honorable part.

On Basilisk Station
Honor had been astounded to learn from the commissioner that New Kiev had been told in unambiguous terms to keep her hands off the Navy's operations on Basilisk Station.

Now that I have reread it several times, Honor isn't the only one astounded. Why doesn't the Navy just put its booted foot down more!

For once I'd like to hear Elizabeth say "Because I stone cold said so!"

I love the moment Benjamin seized the opportunity presented, because of Honor, to regain the power lost to Protectors over time. Mueller and company didn't know what hit them. They were left a bunch of rattling Keys.

Angry Dame Estelle. Good Lord, do not get me started. I love Talbott-era Estelle too - obviously - and love her dearly, but there's just something so disarmingly perfect about OBS Estelle. Like Honor, she was younger, a bit rougher around the edges, and more likely to wear her heart on her sleeve. The image of her slowly leaning her head against the window and "gritt[ing] her teeth in pain" is one that has stayed with me since I first read the book - good Lord, I just want to wrap her in my arms and make all the pain go away.

As for who could do my baby justice - physically, I've always seen Michelle Krusiec in the role, though I'd also thought of Julia Nickson (she who played Catherine Sakai on Babylon 5). Lucy Liu has been bandied about, but we all know Lucy Liu is destined to play Allison Harrington.

You think "OBS" Estelle was rough around the edges? What edges? There are only curves!

But really. You think? Well I never.

Allison being played by Lucy Liu is casting perfection. I have to admit that I'm not familiar with Michelle Krusiec, afaik. But I have been meaning to see a movie she's in called "Knife Fight," as it boasts a cast of 16 beautiful women! Can we say "veritable bevy of bold beautiful bodacious babes?"

Ha! Compared to Talbott-Estelle, she is definitely "rougher around the edges". For one thing, we don't get nearly as much "sulfurous" cursing from Talbie Essie.

(I cannot believe I just wrote those last two words.)

I may or may not have a theory that said sulfurous cursing was in about half a dozen different languages...

Google Michelle Krusiec!! She is gorgeous. Stunningly, staggeringly gorgeous. Put her next to Norm Lewis and I might actually faint. (Also, now I have to watch that movie...)

"Remember that aboard this ship, you are Queen's officers. You may live, or you may die, but your actions-whatever they may be-will reflect not simply upon you, but upon every man and woman ever called upon to wear the uniform we all wear. See to it that any reflections you cast are the ones for which you want to be remembered… because you will be."

Just a nice little speech to scare the snotties silly courtesy of Ginger Lewis.

As to the above discussion about Estelle do you think Michelle Yeoh is too old to portray her? She has aged very gracefully.
