After an absence on many months the proprietor of this establishment made an appearance on his Facebook page and update what the plans on for all his works:
Quote:Various new people since I was on last so time for SERIES UPDATES!

(Ta-ta-tuuuuuum!)

Aldenata: Two more books. Period. Dot. Know the general outline. Just cannot get the jones to write them and with all the characters/groups 'general outline' is barely that. I know what MIKE does. I'm not sure about the rest of the groups.

Vorpal Blade: Got some synopses for more books. Not really jonesing at this time.
Council Wars/Dragons: I probably should just admit the rest of the story is never going to get written. Honestly, I'm more interested in just jumping to the 'sequel' universe. (Straightforward Big Fat Fantasy universe.)

Special Circumstances: Some ideas, not really working at this time.

Troy: Two general ideas, not working on it at this time.

Ghost: New co-author book in the wings, new co-author who actually KNOWS the universe and gets it. Former SF officer, contractor, written for SoF for years. Should be good.

Black Tide (Graveyard Sky): Four books done and in the can more or less. From there it will just be anthologies. No more 'core' books planned. Except for anthologies, the series is basically wrapped. (YEAH! FINISHED ONE!)

EMPIRE OF MAN: David has given his okay on the opening 'throne-room' scene and other bits. Will be moving forward on that soonish. We have the basic outline of the plot but that's a long road from a finished book. We also have the basic outline of the future of the universe and sequels so we may eventually be able to 'wrap' that series.
Did I miss one? Honestly, I'm not sure...

I wish he'd go back to writing another Troy book instead of progressing Ghost...TbtT was very lackluster, but maybe a co-author will bring back the goofy gun-porn fun of the earlier books.

"Come here," Despreaux said, pulling him down until he was resting on her breast.
"Thank you, again," Roger said then shifted.
"Problem?" Despreaux asked.
"Just trying to find a comfortable position," Roger said. "Head's kind of on your sternum. I'd gotten used to the other ones. They were more comfy."
"Oh!" Despreaux snapped, pushing him away. "You son-of-a…"
"Well, they were!" Roger said, laughing. "I liked both bodies but the other ones were, face it, really nice pillows!"
"That's it!" Despreaux said, throwing a pillow at him. "You're sleeping on the couch, Your Majesty!"
"I'm just joking, honey!" Roger said. "It's called lightening the mood! Tell me you don’t want to sleep with an Emperor. Chicks did power and scars and I've got both!"
"You misogynistic, caveman bastard," Despreaux said, beating him with a pillow and laughing finally.
"That's assault upon your monarch!" Roger said, hitting back with the pillow she'd thrown at him. "I'll have you lashed around the fleet!"
"You and what Army?" Despreaux said, then: "Oh, damnit!"
"Come here," Roger said, dragging her down to cradle on his arm. "You can't get away anymore. I'm the Emperor, you know. I have secret police," he added in a whisper.
"Just tell me it's going to be okay," Despreaux said.
"Eventually," Roger said. "But not for a very long time. The chaos that is going to follow this war is going to go on for decades. Lives will be lost. Many. Too many. Civilian and military. But you and I, darling, will win out. In the end we will create a better Empire for all its citizens. Eventually. Our children will inherit the legacy of a stable, healthy, growing Empire, not a snake-pit of stagnation or a crucible of war. I promise you that, honey," he said, kissing her on the head. "Eventually."
"I suppose that will have to be good enough," Despreaux said, nestling into his shoulder.
"You know, speaking of children…" Roger said.
"I've learned that tone," Despreaux said. "They're in the can already."
"Some women still do it the old fashioned way," Roger pointed out. "And when they do, their tits tend to… blossom…"
"That's assault upon the monarch!" Roger shouted as Despreaux started to beat him with a pillow. "Again! Guards! I'm being assaulted…!"

Thank you. I have been wondering what Ringo has been working on. I refuse to read zombie books. Looking forward to Book 5.

I am also eagerly looking forward to the continuing adventures of Roger and his Companions. But I have to say that I was VERY pleasantly surprised by Ringo's "Zombie Series". I've never been a particular fan of the zombie genre, but considering how much of a fan of Ringo's that I am (and the hysterical bits he was posting on FB), I decided to give his series a try... It is WELL worth the money spent!!! Action, LOTS of humor, a realistic storyline behind the 'zombies'; I recommend giving it a try.

I read "The Last Centurion" on a lark. The book turned out the better than I expected. I had read a few others with less enjoyment. It's like reading Peter F. Hamilton, Fallen Dragon was a good read, but his others well not so good.

Heh... Ringo tends to put out stuff that I either absolutely love... or absolutely hate. He doesn't seem to put out too much in the middle ground. A few items, sometimes I guess.

Centurion was one of those "meh" books I guess. Mostly political screed with "facts" strewn throughout that were mostly just political slams. Some of them I even agreed with, mind you, but meh it was just one big and fairly boring political satire overall. Council Wars was pretty decent but it looks like he's given up on it. Oh well.

Of course, Roger is one of the loved series. Which he's only just now FINALLY getting back around to. Better late than never I guess. And of course the best one he ever wrote -- Vorpal Blade -- also is also on extended hiatus while we hope he can find the "jones" to get around to it. Hopefully soon.

And then for the crap... Ghost... barf, just plain barf. One for the hate column. Aldenata pretty much the same, it wasn't quite as bad as Ghost but that's not saying much. Pure wanton slaughter without purpose or rhyme or reason. Bleugh.

Haven't read the zombie stuff yet, nor Troy or Circumstances. Not sure if I dare.

Unfortunately, the crap is what he likes to write and often also what sells well, so he writes more of it. And those of us who would rather read his enjoyable and well-written books are stuck in limbo.

Really like the series. Can't get one idea out of my head. I seem to remember a book or series of books about Amanda becoming the Empress in something called The Dagger Years? Am I thinking of something else? might have been put out by Tor or Ace?
