I had an evil thought, lol
With Merlin and Nimue being effectively immortal and that over enough time almost anything can happen...I was imagining stuff like this.....

Merlin or Nimue are still on Safehold and the Church has not yet been overcome, say within next century
Now, because they guard powerful people who thus meet a LOT of folk
And since they often undertake missions in disguise
They may have some rather droll encounters

A man introduces himself to Cayleb or someone around the PICAs
"My name is Bond, James Bond!"
If Merlin is drinking beer at the time, a beer mini-tsunami ensues from his nose

Just imagine all the possibilities of famous names or silly puns etc cropping up purely by chance, lol

Yes, I'm a horrible, low brow person!
I consider a certain scene where Nimue bitchslaps a ratbag and Merlin is eating potato chips while drinking beer and asks Cayleb if he wants to re-watch it in slow motion, as a PINNACLE of the novels :p
Seriously laughed my ass off the chair at that bit, hehe

What? Did Merlin and Nimue run out of Welsh names to use?

You can never run out of Welsh names to use.

"Dai ap Sheep"
"Llewellyn Lanolin Lover"
Etc

Hey, being Scots we're entitled to take the mick out of our Welsh cousins and their peculiar foibles ;)

And we all know why the Scots wear kilts, don't we?

A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Because the sheep can hear a zipper a mile away. :D

Noah had to build an ark because it rained for forty days and forty nights.

The Welsh just say 'Good summer, isn't it?'

And in a desperate attempt to get this vaguely back onto Safehold (for those who know Welsh):

Cayleb: Have you seen Nimue's new Seijin persona? 36 DD!

Merlin: I did tell her it was a ridiculously long name.

Rofl! :p
We also wear wellingtons....

Years ago I used to live in the Borders and the town had a bronze statue of a ram, every time the Welsh came through to watch their team play at Murrayfield, they stick a leek up the statue's bum!!

Of course not. Just grab a handful of Scrabble tiles when you get short of examples. :D

PS: If you drag up a 'Z' it's a Polish name instead of Welsh. :D

I'm half convinced whoever transliterated Welsh into Latin Script did it to guarantee that the Welsh came across as provincial as possible.
