Clearly the central heating defeated Santa! No ribbon wrapped snippet under the tree. :(

All best wishes for every blessing of the season to RFC and all, anyway.

I think it's still a bit early for this particular Jolly Old Elf.

Merry Christmas, all!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who - deep down - can't really be satisfied when RFC gets a well earned rest, rather than offering up snippets ;)

Oh well, only 13 more days (if my count isn't off) until I get my full copy.

And 14 more days until I start Looking for snippets to the next book ^^

Speaking of Santa, does he visit the Children of Safehold? How about the Easter Bunny? Does Safehold celebrate Thanksgiving or have a Memorial Day?

What sort of Holidays does Safehold have?

Answers! I got lots of answers!

(Now if I could just find the right questions.)

IIRC, Safehold has the "Day Of Creation" which is the day when God breathed life into the Adams and Eves, awakening them on the world that he had created for them, giving them a life to live underneath the benevolent gaze of the Angels and Archangels.

The "Day Of Creation" is the one holiday which is celebrated across all of Safehold. Other holidays are more local, being things like the birthday of whichever ruler is in charge.

This means that the "Day Of Creation" is the Safehold equivalent of every Earth holiday wrapped up in one.

I can't write anywhere near as well as Weber
But I try nonetheless, And even do my own artwork.

No.

All Safehold hass is "God's Day", an unnumbered/named day in the middle of the year, which is describeded as "the most holy day, rollign Easter and Christmas into one"
Not sure whether there's a tradition of gifting associated with it though.

As I recall from one of the first books; Safehold has some sort of celebration during one week of the year commemorating "creation day"; but not much of anything else. I suppose the individual polities may have their own secular holidays; but I don't recall any being mentioned.

I believe there is. IIRC, Hector Aplahn-Armahk is at sea ruminating on the gifts he received in one of the middle books.

I'm in the middle of a reread prior to new book so I think i can answer this.

there is no mention of any gifting connect to God's day, but there is mention of a Mid winter festival which includes gifts.
