Don't forget, DW has already said that he hand planned to finish HH in 13 or so books, but the story is only have told, so there is AT LEAST 10 more books om the Honor Harrington time line, which doesn't count Shadow of Saganami, Torch, A Beautiful Friendship, or any other story line added to the Honorverse by Weber.
Also, don't forget that Safehold and War God's are both getting a new book this year, as well, and their stories are not close to being finished, either. It is understandable, if somewhat (very) irksome that he has not been able/willing to write number #3 of the Multiverse. However, writing is his livelihood, and I can see why there would be a certain unwillingness to devote, not just the time and energy, but the emotional investment it takes to write a book when the first two didn't sell very well. I think some of the lack of sells, though, can be attributed to the size of the books. Neither can be called 'small', and that might of intimidated people. Think Lord of the Rings, which was written as a single book, but broken up into 3 because the publisher didn't think a huge tome would sell, regardless of the quality of the story between the pages. |

Apparently Linda has had medical issues in the past; see http://www.baenebooks.com/p-139-far-edg ... kness.aspx
Perhaps there are still medical issues to be dealt with. |

Thanks for posting this Lowlander.
This explains a lot. I hope she is able to recover her health. We should all go out and buy some of her books to help her out. |

I hope Linda recovers her health. However, this is one of the few series of Mr. Weber's that I really can't get enthused over. To much Turtledovish I guess.

It's my favorite of them all!
Perhaps because in this one DW let himself be bound by something - in this case, Earth's geography. H True Map-addict

I love the Multiverse Series and can't wait for the next book. I read the first two within a week and was so bummed out to see that no more progress was made.
But unlike other authors, Weber is a writing machine so I guess I can cut him some slack. Seems they said they hope to release the next book in 2013 so I guess I have to wait :( FWIW, I like this series a lot more than the Latest Safehold series. This series seems to move at a much better pace and unlike the Safehold series, less background is required before the battles. Anyways, if David and Linda ever read these forums, I really hope they can figure out how to return to this series full time. Its the better series |

Certainly you're entitled to your opinion here, but I'm afraid stating that as if it was flat "fact" is not possible. There are people who love this series. There are people who hate it. There are people who are "meh, I'll read it if it's there" (this is me, by the way). And, for that matter, there are plenty of shades of opinion in those three basic camps as well. There are people who love it and yet like Safehold more. There are people who hate it and also hate Safehold. And there are people who think you're flat nuts to like this more than Safehold. Every single word in this post up to this point was opinion and extrapolation. Similarly, your entire post was also opinion. But you stated your "conclusion" as if it was fact. It wasn't. |

Still no word on #3 but I can't complain to much at least Weber publishes regularly and authors lots of books. George RR Martin took over 6 years to put out a dance with dragons that was really just part two of a feast for crows and he has not written anything else major in that time so I’m just grateful RFC has a reasonable schedule.

I just noticed this in the FAQ section, see the update in the bottom of the text
Multiverse I really loved the Multiverse series! When can we expect book three? July 2009 In the Hell's Gate series, there are two more books under contract, but the project is in hiatus while David tries to catch up with his writing schedule. He has told people at Cons that he had no business starting "still another series", but he wanted to tell the story so badly that he bit off more than he could chew. This was actually one of the original series that he pitched to Jim Baen all those years ago, and he's been itching to get it told. It's a good story! **Update: David and Linda think they will be able to begin book 3 in late 2012 or early 2013, with publication approximately a year later! |
