No, that´s the thing, there is no actual evidence beyond that.

The rest is essentially reporter A writing a comment or opinion, reporter B picking it up and taking it further, then reporter C using the previous works of both to make a bigassed article with huge headlines suggesting it was facts, which then reporter A uses to say "see, i was right!".

And then we get a few more circular arguments going for the ride and suddenly we have lots and lots of "evidence".
Evidence which doesn´t exist once you actually try to look at it.

Check what the FBI people questioned at the senate hearings said. It kills off at least 90% of the media speculation, as the later is supposed to be based on information from the FBI.
Information that apparently doesn´t exist, how strange!

Oh, there´s plenty of things that "shouldn´t be". Problem is that if you bother examining them, the picture the media gives is nowhere near what the facts suggests.

And seriously, on the one hand, you have the media shouting loudly about the massive onslaught of cyber warfare from Russia, yet on the other hand, the factual evidence used suggests either rank amateurs or a faked connection.

A Swedish hacker would never leave åäö in files unless he wanted to draw attention to where he was from, and a Russian hacker would not leave cyrillic letters in the code any more. And GOVERNMENT hackers would NEVER EVER do such a painfully pathetic mistake.

And leaving IP adresses behind that goes anywhere remotely near where you actually are? Another amateur mistake that no actual hacker would do. Spoofing isn´t hard. I can do it if i need to, and my "hacking" experience is basically just knowing a few people that maybe could be called wannabe hackers, barely.

Bullshit is bullshit, no matter how often it is told or who says it.

So if the presence of Cyrillic letters are an obvious attempt to fake an origin, then they could also be there to make it look as if there had been an attempt to fake an origin. They could have been inserted to create the appearance of a false positive to hide a real positive. How do you know you aren't thinking exactly what they want you to think?

From another angle, an argument from competence lacks force given the multitude of instances where competent people have made mistakes you'd think they were good enough to avoid.

Neither argument is proof that it was the Russians but suggests that the proof that it wasn't may also be lacking.

I was also under the impression that a significant amount of evidence remains classified.

It's more basic that that.
Back around July last year a server in a Trump office was caught in clandestine communication with one in a Russian bank. (Alpha bank? Something like that)
When questions were asked it shut down and restarted the next day. It was connected to by the russian server again, before it had sent out anything.

This stinks of trade craft. Could have been a bunch of things, none likely legal.

Multiple financial connections to Russia. Again not a problem except the Trump Adnin and companies keep lying about it.

Trump campaign staff meetings with Russian officials. Meetings that are just out of character for a Presidential campaign.

That does't take things like Flynn into account.

That's just the clear public stuff.

Add the slighly less clear stuff like the Russian hackers and propaganda companies and, well, there's plenty of smoke.

Except that contained in the classified briefing materials that was sufficient to convince BOTH Democrats and Republicans briefed on it that this pretty much definitely happened.

... my "hacking" experience is basically just knowing a few people that maybe could be called wannabe hackers, barely.

And yet you appear to think you are a greater expert on what hackers would and would not do..... could and could not do... and what could and could not be done to defeat those measures... than the entire US cyber intelligence community. Such that you can see what *obviously* is going on here, but they cannot.

Curious how that works.

http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/05/15/nat ... -brussels/

NATO is scrambling to tailor its upcoming meeting to avoid taxing President Donald Trump’s notoriously short attention span. The alliance is telling heads of state to limit talks to two to four minutes at a time during the discussion, several sources inside NATO and former senior U.S. officials tell Foreign Policy. And the alliance scrapped plans to publish the traditional full post-meeting statement meant to crystallize NATO’s latest strategic stance.

....

“It’s kind of ridiculous how they are preparing to deal with Trump,” said one source briefed extensively on the meeting’s preparations. “It’s like they’re preparing to deal with a child — someone with a short attention span and mood who has no knowledge of NATO, no interest in in-depth policy issues, nothing,” said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “They’re freaking out.”

The embarrassment of the nation mounts daily...

President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

...

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump’s decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.

“This is code-word information,” said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.”

Do I even need to freaking comment?

It is typical Der Trumpf. But while I could go to jail forever for that, the President, such as he is and for whatever time remains before impeachment, can classify or declassify or reveal anything he wants to. It shows his stupidity and his disregard for the law and for diplomatic relations, but isn't illegal.

Two sides to that.

As KS points out, he can do it. Other hand, you never play fast and loose with someone elses intelligence like that. Far too damaging.

Yeah That's not really 2 sides. That's more "he really fucked up in a monumental manner but he won't go to jail for it because he's president." That's really only 1 side.

I'm going with Michelle on this one, WTF!

Is not anything sacred to Donald Trump? Not even mankind's most precious commodity? Except for his own?

It doesn't work if the kids won't eat it. Seriously who puts chopped cauliflower into pizza crust? The kids eat the topping and the crust hits the trash can. The macaroni and cheese variations were awful, what is it with this obsession with chopped cauliflower? The kids won't eat them after the first bite.
