Go look up the history of the Hastert rule, you may learn something.

Essentially the only conclusion is that US political system became unworkable & unable to actually solve the county's problems.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Any system depends on the competence of the people working it. Our system is self correcting. We'll see if that proves out in November.

Do we really need to mention Trump's comments about Judicial confirmations?

Any system could "self-correct" only to some level; then the inertia of the system would kick in. It would be no point if Democrat president came to power, if the only result would be the mirroring of Trump situation - president forced to constantly battle against opposition who opposed him just because "he is not from our camp".

Because if it is, then US democracy is doomed. No democracy could survive such sheer idiocy.

Were you not the one who admonished me for being an "old woman" about two months ago? Right now total US fatalities from the Coronavirus are comparable to a typical Flu season. Most of the people who are dying are elderly with pre-existing conditions that make it likely that they would die of something anyway. Of course we now have only .2% of the population infected. Is it possible that we can manage the epidemic with out destroying the economy? Keep in mind that the damage to the economy is compromising our ability to manufacture medical supplies and equipment. The lock down might kill far more people than the Coronavirus.

After taking extreme precautions it's comparable to a normal flu season.

I think you just answered your own question.
