It is interesting.
I went through the quiz and it seems to place a lot of weight on stereotypes (i.e. what restaurants you eat at), if you've had a physically demanding job, and is built on the premise that if you're in the upper or middle class you're out of touch with mainstream American culture despite middle class being approximately 50% of the population (http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/12/09/are-you-in-the-american-middle-class/; multiple book citations in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_middle_class).

Yes, going through it it seems more like a test of whether you are in a socio-economic group that is or is not likely to be in a bubble rather than testing characteristics of actually being in a bubble. It's more of an "are you at risk of living in a bubble" test than an "are you in a bubble" test. Rather like asking someone if they're frequently exposed to second hand smoke or some other carcinogen and then if they answer yes saying they have cancer, instead of just saying they might want to go get themselves checked out. |

Surely the primary sign of living in a bubble is the lack of divergent views that force you to reconsider your own assumptions in order to understand...
Of course, those who live in a bubble tend to fall into the "This person doesn't think the same as I do and therefore they are totally evil and must be removed" trap... Holy space llamas! Fundamentalists are bubble-heads! ~~~~~~

Did you read the associated article? I had much the same thoughts when I took the quiz. The ones that stuck out in my mind were: I had average TV and movie habits. What the average American turns on the TV only to watch races and hasn't been in a movie theater or bought a DVD in 4 years.  Reason I didn't post it then. But did post it now was the accompanying article and what the author was hoping to accomplish. Which is rather different than middle class. In spite of answers of having friends/experiences with divergent views, I wound up in the bubble because I rarely watch TV. I read books instead. Hmmm. I wonder how many people on THIS forum do the same.

Or any other discourse! One problem is that in many things we need to rely on someone else reporting honestly. I've never been to China, so . . .. It is likely that anyone who doesn't pay enough attention to reality will wind up in some bubble or other. Readers get to pick what they absorb, TV is pre-digested. I do believe my post here on this important subject up and went. Or it is possible I never hit the "POST" button? Anyhow, here is my short stupid answer. And ... I have already wasted a paragraph.
I was so far outside the bubble it did not show on a good gage. Have not watched TV in well over 20 years. Instead the attempt is made to read history books and stuff. Sometimes Davids stuff.  But it is possible and entirely probable that I have lived too long in the woods of SW OR USA. About 43N, 123W or so. Kinda. Disconnected? Possibly. Out of the bubble? Probably. So what? I am probably smarter and better educated than most here and it is all inside my own minds eye. So there. We are all entitled to our opinions only my opinion is more important and right than yours.
