As I first reported in 2009, the Obama administration quietly gutted the nation's most highly trained post-9/11 counterterrorism rail security team, Amtrak's Office of Security Strategy and Special Operations (OSSSO).

Government can always win, even when it's wrong.

Only by using force. Hmmm. They are militarizing the police now :?: After all police were produced to allow a non-military way to handle internal thuggery and such and thus make it harder for governments to oppress their own people

"Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you." – Pericles

Some things don't change much 8-)

This also. Some people seem to work hard at avoiding them.
John Adams famously quipped that, "Facts are stubborn things."

The truth is, their policies only promise the destruction of the powerful, not the empowerment of the oppressed.

The socialists don't even deliver on that. Instead they move the power to the bureaucrats, instead of returning it to the people.

I am ashamed to say that we are ruled by some of the stupidest people on earth.

Or wicked? It seems that much of what they do is to their short term advantage, even though it is a disadvantage to us and both their and our descendants.

If people don't have to work for it, don't save up for it, and don't think it will ever end, that kind of windfall is eventually squandered.

Not that slowly :!: Spending it as fast as it comes in is the primary reason the poor stay poor. This is why our government is in poverty. :x Michael Jackson was earning millions each year. You might check on how much he owed when he died

I’ve argued, ad nauseam, that the single most important goal of fiscal policy is (or should be) to make sure the private sector grows faster than the government.

Instead of pretending that everything is rosy, perhaps it would be wise for the president to replay the part of the speech about bipartisan cooperation and then figure out how his multiple veto threats, failure to communicate and reluctance to seek bipartisan solutions fit the theme of his address.

Let me suggest, therefore, a new political creed: The triumph of persuasion over force is the sign of a civilized society.

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure.

Simply to pass laws prohibiting the outward symptoms of problems is to sweep the real problems under the rug. It may hide the dirt for a while, but it doesn’t dispose of the dirt properly or permanently.

Hmmm.

BTW, am I the only one who sees funny but sad one liners in political postings?

— James Madison, 1788

I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.

Current, 2015

It's a sad commentary on this administration when an act of treason entitles you to better care than most of the men and women who have honorably served this country!

Americans have an innate sense that it's a mistake to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

I add that some people claiming to be a golden goose for the economy just lay gilded eggs. Neither nutrition nor value comes from crony capitalists :!:

People are financially incentivized to commit fraud, crime, and deceive customers.

Liberals say:
Don't feed the animals. They will become dependent on your handouts and unable to take care of themselves.

Then they vote to increase welfare.

And also:

There comes a point where people get the government they deserve.

About the Little Sisters of the Poor

After all, the government has exempted Pepsi and Exxon from the same HHS mandate that it is forcing on the Sisters.

Ronald Reagan once quipped that the trouble with his political opponents, “is not that they are ignorant. It’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

Governments can only print money; they can't make it worth anything.

If you give politicians money to pay the government's debts, they will spend it and borrow more.

True. So they should be able to choose learning to take care of themselves. Why bribe them to be otherwise?

The primary purpose of welfare should be to encourage as many as possible to get off of it, but that is not how the current system is designed at all.

Some cannot help themselves - but if the big government spenders really want these to be helped, why did they go after the "Little Sisters of the Poor" group?
