mexico is the grips of a drug war, funded by all the drugs america buys. Several of these countries had the US depose their leaders, or incite the populace during the cold war. Several of the problems and the lack of first world status can be attributed to the US.

And a lack of assimilation won't turn the US into what you claim. Otherwise Nz, with 25% of our population born overseas, should be like south america, as opposed to being a first world country like the US, which has 11% of its population born overseas, according to your government.

They are nor modern, they don't have a modern outlook and they tend to be either authoritarian oligarchies or Marxists. The illegal immigrants are fleeing Latin America because the countries are ship holes. The problem is that if they don't assimilate, they will turn the US into a ship hole.

May be we should deport the illegal aliens along with all of Obama's bastard sons and daughters to New Zealand?

Australia also has about 25% of our population born overseas.
Our general experience with immigration has been positive, with only a small redneck proportion of citizens unhappy with it.

We have had several waves with Greeks and Italians after WW2, Vietnamese after that war, and in recent time people from other troubled areas. The press plays up problems like hard line islamists, or criminal elements specific to ethnic groups; but the actual statistics show that these groups are more law abiding overall than the rest of us (ex English convict stock).

Most of us see the benefits, with an obvious one being food variety, but new cultures also reinvigorate us. The religious breakup is interesting with 61% Christian, 2% Islamic (stable for years), and 22% no religion. Thus the redneck concern about being swamped by Muslims is totally unfounded.

I love the reference to a wallace and Grommet!

UK police might have there faults, but they are far more competent and far less violent than American police. The official death toll is several hundred people per year killed by police but this excludes "suicides by police", accidental deaths and "excited delirium" as a preferred cause of death when Tasers are involved. The real death toll from American police probably exceeds 1,000 per year yet they can't solve most violent crimes.
