Poker, I really enjoy reading your posts. We are politically far apart on many topics, but I like to think we have integrity & this confirms your side. I was just reading the NYT editorial on the shutdown & it seems to be an opposite mirror image of what the Murdock press says here about our politicians. They didn't miss a single chance to kick the Republicans, and while I agree with the sentiment (my bias) I do despair about the lack of balance.
Perceptions are interesting in that most of the non US world seems to regard Obama as a tolerable slightly to the right politician, yet half the US electorate regards him as a socialist & hates whatever he does. Our conservative PM was elected 6 weeks ago on a platform that stated our economy was bankrupt and needed his emergency surgery to repair it. He has changed nothing in the economic sphere and now (for a big change) tells the truth, that we have the healthiest economy in the world, by any impartial measure. He did fix the perceived refugee problem by banning any governmental reporting of arrivals. Sigh - politicians. |

As this is now making the rounds again, President Obama is getting another lesson in what it means to be a public figure today. Lesson 1 - cameras are EVERYWHERE. Lesson 2 - once a picture is posted on the internet it will follow you FOREVER.
