Fly.
NZ police wanted to ban those weapons.
One reason was the number of police officers shot by them.

But mainly, because such laws work.

As evidenced by the Christchurch shootings themselves.

You truly are insane.
How many police officers in New Zealand were getting shot with so called "assault rifles"?

Found this to answwer my own rhetorical question.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N ... ne_of_duty

Even the cases where the perpeteators were armed with semiautomatic rifles, either the number of rounds fired was small or there were other weapons involved that were just as lethal.

You truly did drink the propaganda Cool Aid. The Mosque massacres were committed primarily with SHOTGUNS. He brought along the rifles as props because he understood the dog whistle reaction that seeing them would provoke. Blaming the deaths on semiautomatic rifles is only slightly more rational than blaming the deaths on the type of car he drove.

Somehow I lost this classic post to address the issue of limiting shotgun magazine capacity. The technical errors in this video are abundant but it is Hollywood. Assuming the perp is smart enough to load with #4 or #00 buckshot, and use the stalk to aim rather than firing from the hip, Dirty Harry would loose the engagement. All effects from the .44 magnum are grossly exagerated.

Decades ago on my family's sheep station (ranch) we had a visitor with a 44 magnum carbine, and the discussion turned into hitting power. So various trials ensued using water filled cans and clay termite mounds. The Mauser 8 mm with soft nosed rounds did well, but my shotgun with BBs had the biggest impact. The 44 magnum is a very powerful pistol round, but big rifles and shotguns are more powerful yet again.
With the military I saw 50cal and 20mm antimaterial rifles used and they were more impressive yet again. How Speilberg could imply that they and street sweeper combat shotguns were ineffective against dinosaurs beats me.

Shot. Not shot and killed. That you missed that difference is a damning indictment on both yourself and US gun bunny culture.

But I noticed how every complaint of yours has ignored such basic concepts as the laws work, or the enforcers of the law wanted them. It's as if your ideology is more important than a functional society.

An armed society is a polite society. Many people carry guns in the open or concealed. I prefer concealed.

And as reality regularly proves, not all people are polite.

Joat42 come close and let me tell you a little story during Hurricane Harvey. My house took on 5 feet of water during the Hurricane. After a mandatory evacuation, I came home to find a looter trying to break in my Gun Locker with a crowbar. I pulled my pistol and escorted him out of my house. My cell phone was dead so I could not call for help. He then decided to run for it and I chose not shoot him over ruined goods. To be honest, I did not want his death on my conscience because I have killed enough in war. However, if my family was at home and I would have filled him with holes. The defense of my family would have allowed to kill him guilt free. So let's translate this story.

I will never give up my right to bear arms. I have been in situations where civilization has temporarily devolved and looters are out in force. The Authorities would not have been able to respond in time to help the situation. They were still doing Water Rescues. I will do whatever is necessary to protect my family. I am the last line of defense for myself and my family.

Statistically speaking, you and the guns you own are far more likely to cause injury to your family than an outside intruder.

...you say while living in the society that is both the most armed and the most murderous in the developed world, without even blinking an eye. And you will no doubt move on almost immediately to the inevitable "this very armed society is so dangerous and the opposite of polite that it is very very very important I be armed".

Oh look! What do we have here in your *very next* post?

Wow, that's a damned polite armed society you're describing there.

And how do you think things would have turned out if you had come back half an hour later and he had gotten the safe open already and had your gun(s)?

Or an hour later and he was long gone with your guns and now you have just furnished a criminal with firearms?

How is it even possible that you cannot make the mental connection between the massive problems with gun crimes the US is subject to and the situation you are describing here where guns are *everywhere* and easily acquirable?
