Well, by now it's pretty obvious, that US president elections this autumn would be a competition "who hates China more". The PRC is public enemy number one now, all troubles, people's anger and national problems Of the West would be re-targeted on China.

Essentially the Cold War 2 was officially declared. Albeit this time it is less about ideology, and more about national interests.

Question is, of course, how it would affect the world? And would it stay cold? When the original Cold War started, both sides were essentially "vaccinated" from warmongering by very fresh memories of World War 2. Problem is, that neither Chinese nor American population now have any real idea what the large war could be. And this is quite... worrysome.

(Oh, well, at least it seems Russia would be able to sat this one in the lounge for a change...)

Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave,
Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave.

(Red Army lyrics from 1945)

And both sides overdose on national chauvinism... I think that you have a valid cause for worry. For what It's worth I don't think that Trump is an actual war monger. Nor is Biden. On China's side, I really don't have a good read. They have developed a substantial navy. Whether or not they are itching to use it becomes the question. That business in the South China Sea is worrisome. A spark there could set a blaze.

If it does Dilandu it then it likely means Trump has won since it will be more about Trump's ability to sell a con than Trump's inability to govern.

Not necessarily. The situation we are facing has been brewing prior to Trump. It has heightened, however, with Trumps tariffs and the Chinese origins of covid. I think that any US president would be forced to confront China sooner or later, though.

But let's hope that the business in SCS stays limited to posturing and sabre rattling.

More evidence is emerging of China's negligence and malice.

You really should read further than the headlines. The research paper mentioned has been re-written several times, and each time appears to have wound down the likelyhood of the virus being edited.
