There is an interesting correlation between Leaders being Trump-like or liked by Trump (Like Johnson, Putin and Bolsonaro) and them mismanaging their responses to COVID incredibly badly.

It's almost as if these people are bad at governing when things actually get tough.

The good news is that Brazil is allowing the Chinavirus to have free reign. They have not only surpassed Russia as number 2 in number of cases, Brazil has now surpassed the US for daily new cases. Brazil will be the laboratory that allows everyone to observe just how bad the Coronavirus really is. If the number of infections exceed 100 million, the medical system will be completely overwhelmed, so lethality rate should be much higher.

Now popping popcorn.

This scarcely qualifies as good news...

Just in case no one is paying attention, Brazil is now number one with new infections. I estimate that Brazil will have more infections than the US within about a month.

Doubling rate will be once every two weeks.

Sad that so many will die, for no reason other than having an idiotic government.

70ish year old US man who spent 62 days in hospital with Corona.

$1.12 million bill. (OK, with insurance and stuff he likely won't have to pay anything, but still that's damn high.)

I hope it's mostly how the healthcare system inflates costs for negotiating/profit purposes.

This has the potential to be more than nasty. Brazil is a comparatively large country, the majority of whose population is very poor. I doubt that they have either the resources or the infrastructure to cope with covid19. The number of deaths that could resort from this could dwarf anything we've seen so far.
