How about that as a freaking minimum?

Start contracting with existing manufacturing facilities to retool to start making critical equipment?

Or, you know, do anything that was in the pandemic response playbook they inherited from the last administration and then ignored?

Imaginos wrote:There was a stockpile. 0bama used them up, and did nothing to replace them.

Ummm, no.

The Trump administration shipped 17 tons of critical medical supplies to China in early February then THEY did nothing to replace them.

https://www.state.gov/the-united-states ... ronavirus/

And btw, the shipping the supplies to China part? That wasn't a stupid thing to do. It was in fact one of the only intelligent things they did, trying to fight it and slow it down at the source before it broke out is a very effective time saving strategy.

But then they did NOTHING with the time. Trump just kept saying it wasn't a problem. They didn't develop and produce tests. They didn't replenish stockpiles. Even after cases started showing up in the US Trump was all over tv saying it was nothing and the cases would go to 0 in no time like magic and everyone should just conduct business as usual. They they had it completely contained and under control. His only concern was thinking if the numbers in the US were *reported* as going up it would make HIM look bad for ffs. Because his ego is always and forever his primary overriding concern.

Which is why the US is now on the path to becoming the global epicenter of the outbreak.

As I was saying, they spent the months of advance warning they had doing *nothing* to prepare...

https://apnews.com/090600c299a8cf07f5b44d92534856bc

WASHINGTON (AP) — As the first alarms sounded in early January that an outbreak of a novel coronavirus in China might ignite a global pandemic, the Trump administration squandered nearly two months that could have been used to bolster the federal stockpile of critically needed medical supplies and equipment.

A review of federal purchasing contracts by The Associated Press shows federal agencies waited until mid-March to begin placing bulk orders of N95 respirator masks, mechanical ventilators and other equipment needed by front-line health care workers.

By that time, hospitals in several states were treating thousands of infected patients without adequate equipment and were pleading for shipments from the Strategic National Stockpile. That federal cache of supplies was created more than 20 years ago to help bridge gaps in the medical and pharmaceutical supply chains during a national emergency.

So much for President Trump being full of shit about alternative drugs to treat the Chinvirus.

http://abc3340.com/news/nation-world/13 ... n-facility

In other news, the US is number 19!

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

I am referring to the fact that the US is number 19 in Chinavirus deaths per million people.

Damn Trump for not imposing a travel ban to keep out diseased Eurotrash sooner.

That quote cannot be argued against. Death is, for the vast majority of the population, something that happens only once.

Seriously, over 99.99% of the current population have never died before.

I myself have been legally dead twice. The sensation of suddenly reviving is very disconcerting.

The US epidemic seems to be out of control, whatever TFLY wants to make himself believe. Here are two statistics again which compare infection rates:

https://covidgraph.com/#curve

Daily new cases:
Image

The Eurotrash countries are keeping their daily new infections fairly level, i.e. the daily absolute is at least stable. The US... not so much. The absolute daily numbers are still rising.

Epidemiologic curve since 10k cases:

Image

Again the Eurotrash countries are all on a similar and at least linear trajectory. The US though... seems to have finally managed to get from an exponential growth to a linear one at least, but their incline is currently at least 3x-4x as steep as that of the Eurotrash countries.

All in all, this pretty much looks like the US is headed for a world of hurt and not even close to anything resembling a peak.

You once again refuse to understand the significance of rates rather than raw numbers. Since you insist on playing the blame game, consider this:

That's some excellent whataboutism, TFLY. Congratulations on your absolute mastery of the "Look, over there!" maneuver.

I'm not sure whether you're pretending to not understand these screenshots on purpose or are just dense. Since one should never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity, I'll go with the latter.

Either way, any of the two posts you're referring to is about rates, not raw numbers. It's very clear that the growth rates of the US are way, way worse than the growth rates of any other COVID-19 country. This is very easily to be seen by the steeper gradient of the US curve, as compared to the much flatter gradient of the European curves. COVID-19 seems to spread four times as fast in the US as it ever did in any European country.

Tbh, this feels a bit like me pointing at the sky and saying "Look, the sky is blue!" and TFLY being like "No, it's obviously green, you retard."

On this point I would tend to disagree.
I would ascribe it to pure unmitigated malice. Bigotry always has its roots in malice; simply calling it “stupid” is too mild an epithet. The constant use of the pejorative “Eurotrash” is a clear indication of that.

Apparently the term "Eurotrash" applies to Western Europeans, and others like Brits, New Zealanders and Australians.
After years of interpreting these pages I think I am beginnning to understand. A certain demographic of US Citizens think that way, and for extra inclusion they also count US Liberals in that category.
We tend to call them modern citizens of fully developed societies, but to a US redneck or "deplorable" they are Eurotrash, or even worse, socialists.

If you want to know what they mean by Eurotrash look at how the Simpson's portray modern germans.
