I'm glad to see everyone active on this forum again. I admit that I was awfully biased about Rittenhouse right after the incident happened. But truthfully not guilty for reason of self defense was the right verdict. He was removing himself from the situation and being chased down. Hard to see a guilty verdict coming out of that...

That being said, what was a seventeen year old kid doing wandering the streets in the midst of a community in which he did not reside with an A-15 in a volatile situation to start with. Apparently his mom actually provided him with transportation to get there. Had he been my kid, I would have kept him home doing his homework or something.

Oh, look. Another person breaking gun laws. I'm sure gun banners are going to ignore this one. They seem to ignore all of their other scions that break gun laws. I think this journalist got a couple of cops to help him break some federal gun laws, too.

Off the top of my head:
Hunter Biden
Hallie Biden
Karen Mallard
David Gregory (and on national television)
Raz Simone (that dude in Chaz handing out rifles)
Amazon and hardware stores (in Washington State. See the definition of a "firearm" in I-594)
Molotov Antifa*
AOW/SBR Antifa*

*If you see pictures of BLM/Antifa protestors with AR-15 pistols (the arm brace ones) the ATF has said and not said that those are SBRs. Yes, really. If the Antifa/BLM protestors have vertical foregrips on those pistols, then they need to pay a $200 tax for doing that or it's a crime. They're also allowed to make molotovs, but each one has to have a tax stamp.

Have you considered charging these people rent, or are you content to let them live in your head for free

Yet another senseless school killing in the US.
Wait for the "guns don't kill people, people do" mantra.
If this weirdo had used a knife or club, many would still be alive now.
The thought of parents kissing their much loved little ones off to school in the morning, then later getting a phone call is the stuff of nightmares.
The sad thing is that even if Biden managed to get some legislation through, there are so many unregistered guns out in the community, it will take generations to fix this.

The average gang-banger or criminal with an "illegal firearm" aren't the ones that shoot up schools it seems so I assume that most school-shootings are actually done with legally purchased weapons, or am I wrong in my assumption?

Yep. Unfortunately the guns are only the surface issue. The deeper problem is the culture of violence. Everybody has the issue to a certain extent. But here we have it in spades, far more than the normal social norm.

I have the feeling that the current Supreme Court leans very far toward removing any gun control - is that a correct assessment?

The funny thing about the 2A is that it doesn't mention anything about regulating gun sales. I don't know what constitutional scholars have said about it or what the current case-law is, but a plain reading of the amendment should allow for that type of regulation.

Perhaps a new interpretation of what the founding fathers intended?
A two metre muzzle loading smooth bore flintlock. As long as you spent enough time in a militia to be well regulated.
Any white land owning adult male could have one if they were in the militia.
Then more specialised modern weapons could be licensed if people could pass a number of checks.

what puzzles me is that somehow the first bit of 2A seems to be passed over, as if of no significance...
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,...
